Considering the ridiculous outrage about that hex number that said big boobs, shouldn't we be outraged about the sexism in the name Cougar?

Absolutely. You should rush over to Apple.com right now and take a screenshot of the new OS title so that you can write an angry letter.

"People are going to love the new features in Mountain Lion and how easy it is to download and install from the Mac App Store," said Philip Schiller

Update: Many users are reporting difficulties purchasing and downloading OS X Mountain Lion, undoubtedly due to heavy load on Apple's servers.

I find it very annoying that companies can't just put a damn version number on their OS products like almost every other software release in the world uses. Trying to keep different cutesy names straight in a shop that uses multiple versions of multiple systems is very annoying.

// have nothing else to really add to this
/// just sort of hoping it becomes a cougar thread
//// oh, you're using "snow leopard"? Okay, retard, I think the problem is Lenny got nervous and shot it....

Yes but you're missing the point of having an outrage. It need not be based on facts or reality or other bothers like that.

Gizmodo? Ohhh you mean the site and indeed company that is STILL buthurt over their purchase of a known stolen iPhone (sorry, the second you find something and decide to sell it for money... it's stolen property) and getting biatch slapped by both Apple legal and the then CEO Steve Jobs? I think that is indeed the site you meant.

Frankly since then Apple could produce an iPhone that made you an island paradise, transformed in to a jet to fly you there, printed money AND gave free world class BJ's on command and this is what you'd see on that site:

40% Plane mode is too noisy and the BJ's lacked sufficient suction. Don't buy.

Their opinion counts for nothing beyond something to laugh at. What are more reputable sites saying?

Apple's hardware models are worse... they're all the same name! I went to apple.com to see if my wife's aging MacBook would be able to run this update and this is from their "How to upgrade" page:

Step 1:
Make sure your Mac can run Mountain Lion.

Your Mac must be one of the following models:

iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)

Oh, gee, let me go find the receipt from 4 or 5 years ago to see if it was bought in 2007 or 2008, nevermind the vague "early/mid/late" distinctions...

/ok, you just won't be getting my money

it is pretty funny especially since you can't buy it in CD form anymore and I don't think the usb drives are even available this time around. I hate when you are restricted like that, granted you can always burn a copy on your end but it's still a pain because you have to download it first.

I got hit this morning with the "code already used" bug that is going around. The website didnt even look completed because it didn't even have a category for Macbook Air just Macbooks. I will say this is a pretty big giant cluster on Apple's part.

People still take Gizmodo seriously even after all the stunts they have pulled? I thought Engadget and Engadget v 2.0 aka The Verge(i always crack up when one quotes the other on a story) were bad when it came to moronic posts and articles but Gizmodo takes it to a whole new dumber level. Also that site should of been burned to the ground after their little remote prank.

The app store should validate your purchase and tell you if your computer can support it or not, it is tied directly into your system so it will read it and let you know.

Or you can go to apple-history.com and track it down yourself or run geekbench.

If you haven't purchased an iMac since mid 2007 then they already aren't getting your money. You're talking about a $20 OS.
