I shudder to think what has become of the many women he has had in the past and which ones in this instance did not meet this expectations.

Well done, subs. I really hope he goes for polygamy, just so the next time we can use the headline: "Km Jong Un Deux Marries."

I guess I am curious about what is going to become of NK. They are basically an irrelevant country - their main exports are metal ores and the like, and those barely amount to $2B a year.

So 20 to 50 years from now, what will become of them? They are so damn isolated, militaristic, brainwashed against the "evil Westerner" and worship the leaders like they are Gods...it would take a few generations to just deal with the brainwashing let alone deal with the labor camps, famine and utter lack of infrastructure.

Typical imperialist running dog lackey media. The Great Successor has actually married 7 women, all of whom are co-Ms. Best Korea and who orgasm at his slightest touch.

From a few reports in the past weeks, NK has purged some of the old guard advisers from the ranks. Especially, the higher ups in the military, who controlled the country's spending. Apparently, Un wants to make some major changes. I'm curious to see where this will lead.

The new leader's style is considered more similar to his grandfather, North Korea founder Kim Il Sung, who built homes, parks and schools and was often shown alongside his wife, Kim Jong Suk, and with children in his arms.

Yes I am 12 years old.

This is probably the most high profile example of a case in which the euphemism "takes a wife" is more literally accurate than the term "marriage."

It feels like it should take generations. But, seriously, they're no more isolated, brainwashed, or generally 'wtf mate' than gang of four China around, say 1974 or so. And that massive change was in a pre-cellphone/internet information speed age.

They're not forced to be isolated by any stretch. South Korea's domestic manufacturing costs have spiked and now the companies are offshoring to China and the Philippines. Those same companies would love to have access to the 20 million workers north of the DMZ. They work for cheap and already speak Korean. There were some special economic zones set up (and a functional rail link between the Koreas) for just that purpose until Kim Jung Il went all pants on his head retarded in his later years. There was this glorious time period where Kim Jung Il wasn't actively nutso and South Korea had a liberal government that could board a train in South Korea and end up in North Korea. That was closed down after the Cheonan and I'm not sure if it ever reopened or not.

Really the whole road map for reunification is still in place. Sign some kind of formal peace agreement, let the RoK companies to exploit to the labor and in a couple decades once the North Korean standard of living has risen and the North has some politicians with a passable grip on sanity, the two countries merge back together in some fashion.

Un actually appears to have initiated a purge of the military, specifically to break their control in economic areas (import/export). Likely to open the door to allow for him to supervise letting Samsung and the like set up more factories. In a generation or two his family won't be dictators anymore, but they'll be filthy rich from skimming off the top.

/also some of the people I work with in China have indicated China is stick of throwing money in the North's direction
//China's real interest is making sure that all those American troops don't move up to the Yalu River since they're paranoid we'd just mimic the Japanese in the 1930s

Sybarite: I wonder if it's that chick he's been seen with a lot recently. If so, then she isn't the pop singer he had an affair with that a lot of sources were speculating she was.
