One of the advisers, when asked how a Romney White House would address the European debt crisis, said: "I'm not sure what our policy response is."

Romney 2012: We don't know what we support.

I dislike the sound of that question because it would imply that the US is expected to take some action to help Europe with their debt. While I understand our economies are highly dependent on each other and we don't need them to collapse, any expectation that we will be able to take some action to specifically help them out is dangerous. All it will take is a few leaders over there to say something along on the lines of, "Well, we have done all we can. Let's go ask our friend the US for help and if they turn us down we can blame our problems on them."

MaudlinMutantMollusk: Mitt supports everything. And nothing

They're running an anyone but incumbent campaign in it's purest form. At least when Kerry tried it, he had policy to propose.

Romney and company honestly seem to believe that because he says something that it should be good enough for the masses, and that he shouldn't have to actually offer an alternative or policy.

It's the out of touch entitlement of being a CEO.

The Romney people have decided to use the playbook Hillary Clinton refused to use in 2008. Questioning his "American Roots", while effective when the man was just a Senator from Chicago is effective is not so effective when he's been President for 3 years and kills terrorists with nighttime commando raids and socialist drone strikes.

This. I keep asking everyone what Romney stands for, and nobody has any decent answer other than "He isn't Obama." I can't believe the idiocy of that kind of a statement. Castro isn't Obama either, so I guess that means we should all write him in, right? Or Putin? What about Ghaddafi. We can write in Ahmadinnerjacket too, he isn't Obama so he MUST be better. Right guys? Right??

So far the only things he's actually solid on are "OBAMACARE BAD" and "talking tough to China" and a federal marriage amendment. That's it.

This is part of the "anti-Colonialist darkie" angle the GOP has been pursuing the last couple of weeks. They put out the feelers on NRO a while back and decided to run with it, I guess.

That bust of Winston Churchill was secretly imbued by Margaret Thatcher (in an arcane ritual involving an elephant walk) with the power to lower unemployment and cut taxes for the wealthy so...

I'm not saying some of it is racism. Birthers, for example, are dipshiat racists.

I just don't think that it's the majority. Hyper partisanship would be a better explanation for most, in my opinion.

Not really. Avoiding involvement would be a policy response, but it will affect us no matter what because we have to much trade with the Euro-zone. So we had better start preparing no matter what.

Racism is used by the GOP where it is an effective tool to motivate their base. They use other tools effectively too like pants-wetting fear of terrorism, homophobia, pretending that someone will take their guns, holding the economy hostage and attacking womens' rights.

It's not fair, of course, to simplify the GOP's tactics to one destructive and backward approach. They are equally comfortable with politicising anything disgusting that will drag down the country.

I've only met a small handful of birthers in person, but they weren't racist at all. They believe every batishiat crazy conspiracy they find, like the government is hiding the fact that aliens live on the moon. Some birthers are obviously racist, like Arpaio, but calling all birthers racist is the same poor logic as calling people who support Obama "socialists" and people who don't support him "racist."
