I always liked that episode where Gary Coleman visited Boxy and met his Daggit for the first time.

As long as RDM doesn't let Jane Espenson write any episodes, we should be fine. She was the showrunner during Season 4 and for Caprica, IIRC. Most of her stories seem to involve a cast of well-developed characters continuously passing around the idiot ball around and becoming manic depressives.

You can't argue with that!

Hell, BSG was on SciFi and he still managed to pull off 2.5 seasons of excellent T.V.

I'll admit it. I'm looking forward to watching this time-traveling bodice-ripper. Will they cast an actual hot red-headed Scot?

That's going to be one big farkin' challenge...getting the right guy to embody Jamie Fraser? I can't think of anyone who fits the bill. I'll be okay if he's not a natural ginger, but the accent had better [i[not be faked, IMHO. Claire is going to be pretty difficult to find, as well, more so to get an actress with the right delivery that doesn't come off as strident.

No they were thinking of going with a fat US kid who knows history and a retarded time traveler who loses his history book so he has to depend on the kid to figure out what is going on.

2012-07-25 11:04:04 AM
After the success of Game of Thrones they must have looked for a fantasy novel that had even more sex and nudity. Too bad they didn't decide to turn Kushiel's Dart into a series instead.

Then they should do an animated version. It would make a great sequel to "Up".

She wrote the Cat episode when she dies of rad poisoning, no? The one where Kat was SO guilty she assumed another identity that she decided to kill herself?

At least when Dee killed herself, there was reasoning even though it was done for shock value. Kat's sacrifice simply made no sense.

Eh. Nobody liked Kat anyway.

Irony - didn't she swap her badge with Anders? Or was it Helo?

That actually wasn't that bad of a movie, was pleasantly surprised.

And on Ron Moore: So it's going to start out awesome, get progressively retarded and the last 30 minutes of the final episode will convince many fans to never watch a single thing you do again or watch any episodes of the series on repeat?

Christ was the last 30 minutes of BSG bullshiat.

I can't wait to hear some casting news for this. Jamie will be tough to cast without disappointing/ and or enraging an enormous number of obsessed fans. Natalie Dormer might be a good choice for Claire. I can't really think of anyone that would live up to people's expectations of Jamie though.

Helo. Helo's rad-indicator was at about half, but he was showing more physical symptoms than anyone else. Not sure if the writers were paying this much attention, but that actually made sense given his previous rad exposure on Caprica.

Subby here. On Diana Gabaldon's Facebook page, she and the Outlander fans have been having fun dream-casting the characters. A few samples:

Jamie Fraser - Chris Hemsworth
Claire Fraser - Alex Kingston
Black Jack/Frank Randall - Jason Isaacs
Roger Wakefield - Henry Cavill
Dougal MacKenzie - Sean Bean

Lots of lusty bodice-ripping with muscular kilted men, bloody war scenes, time travelling through stone circles. Seven novels (so far) in the series, so much material to work with.

See, I could enjoy those...and for Bri, I'd love to see Deborah Ann Woll, but CH and AK I just couldn't go with for some reason. Love Hemsworth as Thor, don't get me wrong.

After Game of Thrones a lot of networks are going to be looking for a successful sci-fi/fantasy series to adapt, but unlike GoT ones that don't require gigantic cast and a gazillion dollars worth sets and CGI to make. Outlander Series makes sense would be a good candidate.

Same here. And Alex Kingston, as talented as she is, might have trouble pulling off a twenty-something Claire in the first two books.

For lulz, I posted the following picture on Gabaldon's page as a possible candidate for Phillip Wylie:

Richard Sauce: /Pixar should make Ender's Game

A Pixar version would be toned down for a younger audience, no matter what it was rated. I'd rather see Ender's Game done in the style of Titan AE or the newer DCAU films. That would fit the source material a little better.

/Hammer's Slammers, done in the style of Band of Brothers, could be an excellent HBO series.

I disgust myself, but for those Jack/Jamie scenes, I've always pictured Colin Farrell/Prince Harry.

I'm hoping for Natalie Dormer as Claire and Peter Dinklage as Colum MacKenzie.

Also hoping this is full of win and that he stays as true as possible to the books.

I suppose, but it would be hard to envision sci-fi without sets and some CGI. (looks up, kinda agrees).

Still thinks that an Imperial Guard show done in the style of Band of Brothers would make good TV.
Or Break out the Dietz "Legion of the Damned" Series for serialization.

Or, my Breathless Never going to happen hope of the Warrior Trilogy as a series. It has a lot of the political backoffice and espionage parts that can hold the budget down for the few Mech Scenes.

OMG! This is fantastic!!!

I can hardly WAIT! This is the only so-called "romance" novel I've ever read and the reason I read the whole series is because the books are written extremely well, the characters, especially Jamie and his daughter Brie, not to mention Clair and Sir John, are so likeable, and there's a gay element that I adore (between Jamie and one dead guy and Sir John). These are fantastic books and I can't recommend them highly enough, along with the "mystery" side books that focus on Sir John.

Casting is going to be key, though. Who do I want to play Jamie...hmmmm?

2012-07-25 02:59:20 PM
No where in the article does it say that it was picked up by HBO. I sincerely HOPE it is, but it doesn't say that yet.

He's a bit old for Jamie, if they follow the novels, that is, also a bit short, I think the estimates are around 6'5" or so for Jamie's height. Love him as well.
