Do you suppose its possible some tea bagger would go nuts and start shooting? Think of what that'd do for the convention's ratings. Someone somewhere has to be thinking of this in terms of advertising dollars.

I talked to my mom who lives in Tampa the other day. It's a freaking mad house with this farking convention. They're re-routing pedestrian traffic. She has a friend who lives near the stadium, she won't be able to walk to get to the supermarket, forget driving. She's taking the week off and fleeing. Thanks republicans for farking up that area.

I was wondering why they would have this thing in an area that can't support it and it occurred to me, the movie Magic Mike is based on a real male strip club in Tampa. Coincidence?

What do they even do at these things? And who would go to such an event, Democrat or Republican?

It will take approximately 90 days to obtain an out-of-state concealed carry permit after the application is submitted.

For people wanting to actually legally bring a gun to the RNC it probably would have been a good idea to publish this article I dunno, 5 months ago?

Florida is seriously a great place to host the RNC though. Full of whack-jobs.

Tampa was pissed they got passed over in 2004 and 2008. I'll have to dig for the source cause it's kind of old now, but some city rep was biatching and saying the GOP "owed" (his words) FL after delivering the Presidency in 2000.

Gov Scott is behind it, as he is everything the state govt has done to fark over the state. What's so funny is that most of the Republican party wants nothing to do with him. What isn't so funny is that he's still there.

Anyone wishing to legally bring a handgun into the Republican National Convention's security zone is obligated to have a concealed carry permit and conceal the weapon on their person.

In five weeks, the Republican National Convention will get underway in Tampa, Florida - and, due to a state law restricting municipal firearms regulations and Gov. Rick Scott's (R-FL) unwillingness to provide the city a waiver from that law, legal firearms will be permitted all around the convention center (though not inside of it).

So the actual convention itself is a gun free zone?

FTFA:Though some states and municipalities (like New York City, which requires $521.50 in fingerprinting and licensing fees and an in-person interview for the license required to have a handgun legally in one's possession) make handgun buying and registration reasonably onerous,

So liberals dont think poor people should be allowed to own guns? Sounds absolutly Republican.

Haha, when Obama came to Denver for the DNC in 2008, my Republican friend who "doesn't even see people in terms of race, why do people say he's a racist just because he doesn't agree with Obama yada yada" saw how it was going to upset downtown traffic routes and said "Now my whole day is ruined because of this n****r!" I still think about that and smile every time I hear him talk to someone about the mean libs who falsely accuse him of racism.

Thanks to Florida's reciprocity agreements with 34 states, armed wackos will join the good Republicans for an honest, fact-filled settling of differences through compromise.
My only hope is that all involved stand their ground.

That would give the "what this situation needs is more guns" folks a chance to prove how wonderfully easy it is to be a hero and take down a crazed gunman in a jostling crowd of screaming people. Extra points if the room is dark, filled with teargas, and the shooter is wearing body armor.

This is the most divided our nation has been since it happened to Bobby Kennedy in '68. Romney doesn't have the love or support of the right wing of the GOP, much less the extreme right wing in this country.

But this is why candidates have Secret Service detail by this point, and they'll do their job.

The following mind-boggling attempt at a crime spree in Washington appeared to be the robber's first (and last), due to his lack of a previous record of violence, and his terminally stupid choices:

1. His target was H&J Leather & Firearms, a gun shop specializing in handguns.

2. The shop was full of customers - firearms customers.

3. To enter the shop, the robber had to step around a marked police car parked at the front door.

4. A uniformed officer was standing at the counter, having coffee before work.

Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up, and fired a few wild shots from a .22 target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, the police officer with a 9mm Glock 17, the clerk with a .50 Desert Eagle, assisted by several customers who also drew their guns, several of whom also fired.

The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons.

I hope no union folks are used in the preparations and operation of this convention. Otherwise the RNC is clearly contributing to the downfall of democracy and all of Western civilization.

Actually, now that I think about it more, why is this being held in a convention center. Shared resources? Multiple purposes? Recycled use?

I think it's obvious they need to construct their own facility. They didn't build this one.

Just in case someone else is.

This is total BS - they will have metal detectors and no way in hell will the Secret Service allow weapons to enter the building. Although it would be pretty lulzy if the Tea Party types get up in arms because they can't bring their guns. I know how they love to flaunt them at Tea Party rallies.

Incidentally, Vermont CCW permits cannot be used in Florida (or anywhere else for that matter) because they don't issue CCW permits in the first place -- in Vermont, simply being within the borders of the state is enough to legally carry, so CCW permits are not issued due to being redundant.

The RNC does not own the building that they are using to hold their convention. Therefore, they do not make the rules the Tampa Sports Authority and Secret Service does.
