xanadian: JonnyG: Actually, I'm a huge fan of Putin. His media image is one every leader should attempt to mimic and fail miserably while doing so, because no one is as awesome as Vladimir Putin.

He's to Russia what Teddy Roosevelt was to the US.

He's more like Russia's Andrew Jackson, really. Although all of their effective leaders were like Andrew Jackson.

SlothB77: JonnyG: He's no different than a Western politician. He just doesn't sugar coat it. Besides, Romney IS evading taxes.

Good points. I think Obama should have Romney arrested, perhaps for the whole pretending to be at Bain after he retired stuff. Or for tax evasion. Let's see how that works out for Obama here in the good ol' US of A.

Putin had Khodorkovsky arrested because he was about to lose an election to him. That is the only reason.

Sounds like a legitimate political reason to me, at least as far as modern politics are the least bit legitimate.

We do?
News to me.
Putin is a lot better at image building than any of our idiots.

And a lot less disingenuous. A whole lot.

Yea, it just lacks the panache of the ol' Domino Theory.
Now, that was some good confabulation.

Much more meaty than this WMD crap.

If there's anything Putin won't stand for, it's government staging terrorist acts against its own civilians.

Apart from the 300 people he killed in engineered terrorist attacks in 1999, but hey.

Reach all you want.
Sheeple want to be divided and conquered, maybe even need it.
Somehow it plays to the fearful real well.
Like a lot of other human behavior I have studied, in detail, intensely, up close, I just don't get it.
I see it, recognize it, but just can't understand why the trigger works so well.
We all are driven to be part of something. We are all driven to form allegiance to something.
But, stupid? Just don't understand the blindness.
GOP and DFL neither deserve your money, support or allegiance.

Your still working under the idea of one person one vote. Its about power and influence. Believe or not, there are actually some democrats here in TN.... so I have heard

//I would love to see foreign aide flowing out of the US to ALL countries stopped until our debt was eliminated. Here is the line. "I'm sorry, but we are experiencing some financial issues at the present and cannot contribute this year as we have in years past. If we are able to recover a firm financial standing, we may be able to contribute again in the future. Please don't call at dinner anymore."

Vladimir Putin is not a good guy. You should hate him and you should feel justified hating him.

Why not? Putin's a great guy:

"I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straight forward and trustworthy and we had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul. He's a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country and I appreciate very much the frank dialogue and that's the beginning of a very constructive relationship," Mr Bush said.

As long as they are scuds with explosive warheads you are right, Israel would just pound Syria with conventional weapons. If Syria were to use chemical weapons against Israel all bets are off. For some reason that I can't recall right off the top of my head, Jewish people in general have been real touchy about poison gas for the last 70 years or so. This is especially true for Jews that left certain European nations and moved to the middle east after a small disagreement with the political party that ruled a large portion of Europe at the time.

I can't think of any course of action more ill advised than gassing Jews in Israel.

Well to be fair, they are freedom seeking.. only problem is their definition of freedom and yours and mine isn;t exactly the same. Theirs could mean freedom to chop a female's head off for adultery or the freedom to impose syariah law .. freedom is one of those words that could mean anything from total anarchy to absolute authoritarian depending on who defines it.
