Ohhhhh, goooood for you.

Seriously, good on you, Mr. Bale. That's a classy move, and to do it lo-key is probably for the best.

/Would be nice of the rest of the cast would join him too.

And there's Christian Bale walking right through AH-DA-DA-DAH, like this in the hospital.

2012-07-24 05:47:37 PM
Did they know who he was..?

Truly, he is the once and future Bat... ^_^

Of course they did...

He was the Batman.

Did he yell at them about the lights.

2012-07-24 07:24:00 PM
Good on him

2012-07-24 07:24:41 PM
If I were in the hospital when he came in I'd pretend like I was just coming out of unconsciousness and ask him "why didn't you just kill me?" and even though it was Tom Hardy's line he wouldn't miss a beat and in a perfect Bane voice say "your punishment must be more severe" because he's such a great actor and then we'd have a little moment and I'd pull out the screenplay I had been working on while recovering and he'd look it over and say "yes, I'd love to play the lead in this. May I show it to some friends of mine? I think Chris Nolan would definitely be excited about directing it" and then the morphine would start to wear off and I'd realize I had been talking to the vital signs monitor all along and because it was sort of an Inception-ey moment I'd be all BWAHHHHM.

If this were Sean Penn instead of Christian Bale, he would have announced his hospital visit to the media ahead of time and brought his own professional photography crew to take pics of him talking to the victims.

Voloch said Bale notified that he wanted to visit the injured, but asked that media not be notified. "He just wanted to meet with victims and police."

And I hadn't heard that part before. Double classy move. Of course he knew it would get out anyway, but he did it the right way.

Very cool. And keeping it quiet was exactly the right thing to do. These people have had a nightmare of a week and the last thing they needed was vapid entertainment media following Bale around on top of the regular 24-hour variety.

Weellll yes...and no. If the spirit moves them to do so...then fine. But if they're not comfortable about it or if they do it because their publicist or agent says it's good for their image, etc...then no.

It's just a little icky that this may become some kind of weird contest to see which actor shows up. Too twisted.

Lol. I read this in a little-kid-talking-90-miles-an-hour voice, which made me lol harder.

Now I woke up my 7 week old. Oops.

Good for Mr. Bale. Way to not notify the media and be all Sean Penn about it.

That works into a theory I have about Dark Knight Rises, which I won't share here because spoilers.

Bale is actually quite uncomfortable with the press, and I'm certain he wouldn't have done this with a media circus following him around.

Wouldn't work. Hardy is too roided up and intimidating, Caine would want to do a shot with everyone, Morgan Freeman would narrate every second of his trip out loud, Gary Oldman would behave like Gary Oldman, and if Hathaway went, some of the wounded fanboys may spooge themselves into lethal dehydration.

He tends to use whatever accent the character of his current project uses. If he is in between movies, it's his normal accent. His current movie is set in Texas so I have no idea what accent he would be gunning for. He could probably pull off a Texas accent because that's him.

How does Gary Oldman act? The only thing I can think of is as soon as he goes back to being Gary Oldman again after a movie, he goes back to his thick as pea soup London accent.

I don't know who has a thicker London accent, him or Michael Caine. Mind you, both are awesome.

Cool move but would be cooler if, when everyone recovers, have a reunion at a private theater and screen the film with some of the cast, maybe Christopher Nolan. Just kind of have some memorial before and ease everyone's mind that they should enjoy the film like they wanted to and not have to have some form of terrible memory attached to the film. I know it'd be difficult to get over but it'd probably be a good form of therapy. Like a "Fark you, we can get over this and not be fearful."

Jesus, man. He didn't shoot anyone. He didn't have any relation to the shooter. And he doesn't anyone anything. This is a nice gesture on his part. Why should there be a demand for anything more from him?

God lord you're right. A bat boomerang pulling out his entrails which Bale could then hang him from a fire escape would be so much Gothomier. I clearly didn't think that one through. This is why I would never make a good super hero. Plus even before I'd shoot the farker, I'd probably monologue.

He should show up as Bane in some sleeping patient's room, the younger the better, with that jock strap on his face, get right in the kid's face....and wait for him to wake up. The kid would love that!

May I show it to some friends of mine? I think Chris Nolan would definitely be excited about directing it" and then the morphine would start to wear off and I'd realize I had been talking to the vital signs monitor all along and because it was sort of an Inception-ey moment I'd be all BWAHHHHM.

What about an outdoor screening at a nearby park or ampitheatre? Open space, lots of security, it won't get completely dark till about 9 o'clock.

I'd even suggest going a step further and getting Chris Nolan up there to present it and maybe do a Q&A.

I know Bale is an actor who plays a hero, but I can't help but think that playing the role of Batman has had an influence on him, in a good way.

Seeing the latest The Dark Knight Rises (I am of the opinion that this is his greatest work as an actor) I get the feeling he came to visit these victims not for publicity for the film, but really because he wanted to do be there for the victims. Show support. Bale may be a flawed human being, but there is a hero in him dying to get out.

It's a good idea, but there is the question of how many of the hospital patients are in any way mobile. It may be weeks or even months before all of the affected would be able to leave the hospital because of the severity of injury or susceptibility to infection.

Seriously, good on you, Mr. Bale. That's a classy move, and to do it lo-key is probably for the best.

/Would be nice of the rest of the cast would join him too.

well, a dozen of em got to meet heath ledger.

ourbigdumbmouth: nmiguy: I know Bale is an actor who plays a hero, but I can't help but think that playing the role of Batman has had an influence on him, in a good way.

I completely agree. I couldn't have said it better my self. This guy's the bee's knees. Hopefully he'll keep away from doing anymore violent movies. I think he's seen the light.

I'd like to see him do a comedy. Not American Psycho-like comedy, but something more mainstream.

GungFu: Classy.

Anyone else wonder if he was talking to them in his normal Brit voice or Bruce Wayne American accent, or the Throaty Batman Grunty voice?

Maybe throw a curveball and use the Boston accent from The Fighter.

/seriously, classy move

show the movie in the hospital? Prevent them from possibly experiencing the trauma of being back in the theater make it optional. Provide a safe, protected environment for them to watch it if they want to

Listen, I don't want a sincere answer to this question no matter how good your idea or stoli n cokes is; I want to assume indecision.

I know you're going for snark, but yes, giving them tickets or arranging a showing would be a good move. Hell, they already paid to see it.

I think a good move would be to rent a local theater to screen the trilogy for them. Just pay the money and stay out of the way. Or maybe do an Alamo Drafthouse-like Q&A afterwards with more of the cast. That would be awesome on so many levels.

It's a good idea, but there is the question of how many of the hospital patients are in any way mobile. It may be weeks or even months before all of the affected would be able to leave the hospital because of the severity of injury or susceptibility to infection.

To be perfectly honest. I highly doubt ANY of the victims will want to be in a dark theater for years, if not for forever.

I agree, hence I think it's much better to have a TDKR showing at the hospital and not a theater .
I'll bet at least a half-dozen of those poor (un)lucky hospital souls are going to have some serious shell-shock when next they go to see a movie.
