Grrrowl! When I first saw CB, I thought he looked like Tom Cruise's better looking brother.

The man is smokin' hot and with this especially, seems like a pretty decent guy

brandied: Squeeeeee!

I'd love to meet Mr. Bale in person. Humina, humina.

(Not like this, though.)

Seconded...were I the nurses in the photo, my hands might have to be cuffed to prevent some grabass....

unicron702: At work just now, swear to God

Me: Oh, that's cool, Christian Bale visited the shooting victims". Co-worker: "He hasn't been a movie in a long time, like True Romance." Me: "Uh...dude, that's Christian Slater. Why in the hell would Christian Slater visit the hospital? Look kids, the guy from Heathers is here to brighten your day!"

Hey, if they met Christian Slater it would remind them there are worse things than being shot... Like Christian Slater's movie career.

Really doubt it. If the studio was involved there would have been press there to cover it.

Seriously, good on you, Mr. Bale. That's a classy move, and to do it lo-key is probably for the best.

Lee's_Austin: I'd like to see Hardy stop by....as his character from Bronson.

He should show up as Bane in some sleeping patient's room, the younger the better, with that jock strap on his face, get right in the kid's face....and wait for him to wake up. The kid would love that!

poonesfarm: If I were in the hospital when he came in I'd pretend like I was just coming out of unconsciousness and ask him "why didn't you just kill me?" and even though it was Tom Hardy's line he wouldn't miss a beat and in a perfect Bane voice say "your punishment must be more severe" because he's such a great actor and then we'd have a little moment and I'd pull out the screenplay I had been working on while recovering and he'd look it over and say "yes, I'd love to play the lead in this. May I show it to some friends of mine? I think Chris Nolan would definitely be excited about directing it" and then the morphine would start to wear off and I'd realize I had been talking to the vital signs monitor all along and because it was sort of an Inception-ey moment I'd be all BWAHHHHM.

What you are missing is that my illness is partially chud21's fault. Him, daRog, basemetal, vortexdweller, lantawa. they all warped my fragile mind.

Six_By_Nine: mekki: stoli n coke: Gary Oldman would behave like Gary Oldman

How does Gary Oldman act? The only thing I can think of is as soon as he goes back to being Gary Oldman again after a movie, he goes back to his thick as pea soup London accent.

I don't know who has a thicker London accent, him or Michael Caine. Mind you, both are awesome.

If he came dressed as Zorg, I'd die from the awesome.

I'm going to summon Marx to comment on this.

Batman propagates a myth that the bourgeoisie will come to protect the proletariat from itself. Meanwhile the poverty created by the bourgeoisie among the proletariat gives rise to the criminal underclass which victimizes the proletariat while giving the bourgeoisie a cause to rise a police state to control the proletariat and keep them from rising against their betters.

/Spiderman is communist agitprop.
//At least when the baddie is a billionaire.

That's nothing - I saw Christian Bale, several times on the same day, filming along the Venice Strip recently and I'll probably be in the background of that movie, walking my dog; and I didn't even have to go and get shot like some attention whore.

show the movie in the hospital? Prevent them from possibly experiencing the trauma of being back in the theater make it optional. Provide a safe, protected environment for them to watch it if they want to

What about an outdoor screening at a nearby park or ampitheatre? Open space, lots of security, it won't get completely dark till about 9 o'clock.

I'd even suggest going a step further and getting Chris Nolan up there to present it and maybe do a Q&A.

I doubt the studio would have wanted ANYTHING to do with this. They'll want to distance themselves as much as possible from the incident, because of the possible PR backlash it might cause. Movie studios are really, really sensitive to losing money.

I'd imagine this was all Bale and that the stuidos were all "Omigod please don't.". Good on ya, bro.

I think a good move would be to rent a local theater to screen the trilogy for them. Just pay the money and stay out of the way. Or maybe do an Alamo Drafthouse-like Q&A afterwards with more of the cast. That would be awesome on so many levels.

2012-07-25 09:26:15 AM

Pocket Ninja: Voloch said Bale notified that he wanted to visit the injured, but asked that media not be notified. "He just wanted to meet with victims and police."

And I hadn't heard that part before. Double classy move. Of course he knew it would get out anyway, but he did it the right way.

If it was Sean Penn, he would have brought in a full film crew.

2012-07-25 09:51:38 AM
Bale has a bad reputation only because he demands excellence from his peers while working. I can't say I'm much different (total Type-A personality).

While I think it's a small thing for him to do in the realm of the real world, he didn't have to do anything.
