Great, he can start in right field after we lose this series to the Tigers, fall seven back and start the fire sale with Shin-Soo Choo.

Runners at the corners, one out and...Kipnis gets picked off at first...and Brantley strikes out.

Sh*t.

Tigers are on a roll, man. 3 out of 4 from LAA, followed by a sweep of the White Sox. And Verlander pitches the last game of this series. It's a long road trip though, after this series 3 against the Blue Jays and 3 against Boston(all away). But hey, when they get home it's against the Indians, so it'll be a good relaxing weekend.

The game is young ^^

But I'm going to bed. Go Tigers!

Although, my last internet thought of the day is, leave it to the Tigers to take a 6-1 homestand against two good teams and then lose 2 out of 3 to the Indians.

I was not aware that Casey Kotchman could jump that high.

And Fark's inexplicable love of minor transactions continues to grow. Amazing.

(PS, Subby, the main guy in that deal was Stewart. Lillibridge was more of a throw in because the red sox didn't have any true UTIL guys)

That really was nice...but when the alternatives are Shelly Duncan & Johnny Damon, you can't help but be an improvement.

Lots of Tribe hits. Need. Moar. Runs.

Pestano is one hell of a reliever. There's been talk of moving Chris Perez at the trade deadline. If that happens, Pestano is the new closer in Cleveland.

If Rafael Perez's rehab stays on pace and he can come back soon, then I have absolutely no problem moving Perez. My only reluctance about that trade scenario would be that it would weaken our already thin bullpen, but you have to ask if that's worth the risk to fill that huge hole out in left.

Ownership & fanbase completely disconnected. Fans convinced the Dolans are the exact opposites of Illitch. Fair? Maybe.

& on to the 9th!

great_tigers: How is Cleveland dead last in attendance????? KC? Houston? Colorado? TAMPA????? Indian fans, how does this happen?

There are a lot of factors that play into it.

1: The weather in Cleveland for the first two months of the season is dreadful. How they didn't think to put a dome on this ballpark when it was constructed is beyond me. You aren't going to get many fans to sit in 40 degree weather to watch...

2: A team that's been dreadful in recent years and seems to disappoint whenever the largest crowds of the season come out.

3: Resentment of the ownership and upper management. The fans hate the Dolans because the Dolans are rarely willing to spend money to pursue players to improve the team and the players they do risk the money on are generally disasters (Sizemore, Hafner, Kerry Wood, Ubaldo half the time).

4: In the 90s when the Indians had the record 455 game sellout streak, the team was marketed extremely well. You knew who the faces of the team were and you got to watch them every night on basic cable. Unfortunately, now the Indians games are aired almost exclusively on Sports Time Ohio, which leaves a lot of fans unable to watch the team and become familiar with them.

/I've been to the ballpark five times this year and I was living in Tennessee for the first three months of the season.
//At least we're not blaming it on a f*cking bridge.

Being right on the lake makes it so, so miserable to be out there in April and May.

Like The Bestest said, the Dolan family also owns the Knicks if that tells you anything.

The Cleveland Dolans are lawyers, but they all tap into the Cablevision fortune, somehow. Who gets the win? Pestano & not Smith, I hope.

A city that's shrunk by 18% since 2000. When I moved to Seattle the Cleveland SMSA was larger. No longer. Cleveland was the only one of the top 30 SMSAs to shrink since 2010.

A great comment on it is that my brother and SIL both commute from east side to the west side -- and do it in less than 30 minutes. Four decades ago that was unheard of.
