The reasonable possibilities for this are: Baby at 17 and baby at 17, baby at 18 and baby at 16, and baby at 19 and baby at 15.

... could be worse.

Since TFA said her daughter was 17, I'll go with option A

article also says babby is 13 months old, so 17 year-old mommy was 16 (at most) at babby's birth, and probably fifteen when God blessed her womb with the little miracle.

The baby ingested CRACK, not just regular cocaine. The distinction ought to be made that these are some particularly trashy assholes.

The baby is over a year old so the mother was 16 when the baby was born, if I'm doing this right.

I have a good friend who had his son when he was 14, so if his son followed suit, he would have been a grandfather at 28. He really took the role of a father very seriously (full custody for the last 10 years) and now has a very well adjusted 18 year old.

My wife's whole family are like this. My wife's grandmother gave birth at 16, her mother at 23 (relatively ancient in this clan), my wife at 20, her daughter at 15. My wife's sister became a grandmother at 34 too (17 plus 17). I'm not a biological parent, but as a step-parent (who is a few years younger than the wife) I became a step-grandparent (which in the eyes of my grandkids is the same thing as a biological grandparent) at 31.

Being a young grandparent is a heap of fun. I piggy-backed my 5 year old grandson around the block last night, both of us giggling much of the way. Only so many 65-year-olds will do that, but it's no sweat at age 36.

My mother had me at 31 (first child). My grandma had her at 38 (also first child). If my family spawned like this one, I'd have been born in the 40s and my great-grandkids would be halfway through elementary school, give or take a few years.

Maybe they can keep the cycle going so she can become a living great-great-great-great-grandma

34 isn't that bad. My best friend's mom when I was in high school was Grandma at 36. She had her daughter at 20 and her daughter had a child at 16. 25 or 26 is pretty scary though. Meanwhile my wife's parents became grandparents at 39, and that was their THIRD child having a child. Since the first 2 were gay and never reproduced, that could have been a LOT sooner.

/I wont be a grandmother before age 49 or 50 earliest.
//My father's parents became grandparents at 64 and 68, so as far as I am concerned, grandparents are really OLD. We have a family history of starting families aged 27-34, Mind you, my Mom's parents lived to 92 and 97, so they had a lot of time.

DavidVincent: Is it a bad time to post this?

"The new legislation will end the egregiously and needlessly long crack sentences that were a hallmark of federal drug sentencing," said Jamie Fellner, senior counsel in the US program at Human Rights Watch. "The racial disparities in sentencing that result from the current law are unconscionable."

Never a bad time to post that, since it's true and cocaine was mentioned in the story.

Not everyone wants to wait till they are old geezers to have a family. I married young and had three sons by the time I turned 22. I dont understand why it's somehow cool to spend five or ten tears going clubbing, getting drunk and generally being a loser before you get serious about life. I am young enough to have fun with my grandchildren. It's great!
