This pretty much sums it up for me. Too bad. I really had an affinity tequila. Especially the smooth stuff.

In college I drank Jose Cuervo and other horrible tequilas, and never got to appreciate GOOD tequila until well after college, when I was introduced to Patron and Cabo Wabo and Tres Generaciones.

I have to admit, I found a lovely coffee tequila the last time I was in Mexico and drank that for a day. One wonderful day...

I just can't drink it anymore. If I do, I'll wake up in the fountain with just my underwear and a single boot on, again.

Eveel cactus juice is eevul.

I had some kind of margarita at a Yucatan Taco Stand that made me vomit for an hour straight. And it was just 1!

Tonight is going to get weird.

Tequila is wonderful.

The last bar I went to had a Tequila menu with ranging from $8-10 a "drink." Which I assumed meant a rip-off in a tiny shot glass. Turned out to be three shots in a glass. Now its my favorite place.

Cannot think about, look at, smell, or be around tequila without getting nauseous.

Good memories, but bad memories...

I was hammered just this past weekend "sampling" various varieties of Tequila. I had double vision as I drove to the airport the following morning so I'm getting kick.

I have had several bad tequila experiences.

And i will have several more.

It's an abusive relationship, but i just can't leave

If you want a good tequila but you don't want to spend a ton of cash on the really good stuff I suggest El Charro Reposado. A buck or two more than that nasty Jose but much better taste, and it's a real tequila.

/If it doesn't have reposado or anejo on it, it's not tequila

Expolaris: Tequila is the only liquor to make me want to remove articles of clothing.

And initially was the big attraction. IF there is any greater liquid panty remover out there, I don't know about it. But after about the 5th or 6th shot. my dick says no way, just drink more Jose and I lose all reason.

Told this story before, wednesday night, payday, me and 2 friends hit the pool hall just for some beers and pool. No prob, nice and relaxed. We quit the pool and have a sit. This very crafty waitress sees us, all monied up and buys us a round of Jose. Nice. That tasted real good! One of us buys another. Even better. We all look each other in the eye, pull out all the cash we had 400+ and every time she went by, another shot. The world went away sometime soon after that. How we got home I later found out was the very same waitress that sent us down this path to hell. When I woke up, I was outside in front of my apt complex, with just my Fruit of the Looms and one cowboy boot on. The sun was up and the work crowd was all on the road. I was totally lost. A note in my apt from that waitress said thanks for the party and left her phone number. I don't remember any party, and I sure as hell never called her back. I totally lost about 12 hours and have no recollection of them. Damn near cost me my job, I had to call in sick thursday and friday to recover. Can't drink Tequila shots to this day.

El Charro is only a notch better than Jose. The best bang for the buck in terms of taste is Herradura Reposado.

Nope. Don Julio or Herradura Blanco FTW.

The best añejo is Capricho IMO, but difficult to get outside Mexico.

Favorite drink is a shot of Tequila at the bottom of a glass of orange juice. Yummy if you stick to the good stuff. (Patron =yes)

I've consistently enjoyed reposados more than any other variant.

This is the best tequila I've ever had:

If it says Jose Cuervo on the label, it's paint thinner, not tequila. The trouble with good tequila is that it's $45.00 or more for a good bottle. Fark moderation.

2012-07-24 05:43:44 PM
Cuervo is NOT tequila. It's Mexican piss with caramel coloring. Patron is what every asshole drinks thinking they're drinking the good shiat. Hussong's, Don Julio, Sauza and for the truly adventurous (and deep of pocket) Scorpion Mezcal anejo 7 year.

Tequila is travelin' music for me. Last outing (...and I mean last), I started drinkin' in Bremerton, Wa and woke up the next morning in Portland, Ore. 12 hrs and 250 miles away. Bike was still at the bar in Bremerton when I got back. At least I still had clothes... It was the third time, so I switched to Jack neat for my sanity.

I cant agree with the Patron, but I like me some Cabo and 3G. I would like to recommend Herradura and Arta.

LOLZ at people calling Cabo Wabo good tequila, that shiat is foul. Drank the tequila, went to the club, both suck....hard.

Cofradia, Hornitos, Tres Generacion, that's good stuff.

This one is high on my list of good Tequila....and is in the mid-price range.

I don't know anything about tequila or what a good tequila is, but the stuff a Latina friend of mine gets sent by her brother is weirdly tasty and is the cause of many lost hours. It comes in an unlabelled, clear bottle with a lump of cannabis in the bottom. She says it's an old family recipe passed down the generations - if that's true her grandma must've been a blast.

had tequila a couple of weeks ago for the first time in years (i have a really bad past with tequila).
i can't prove it's the tequila's fault, but my left optic nerve/orbital bone/whole eye head area HURT for about 30 hrs after i woke up the next day.
tequila...i love you but...please stay out of my life. we're no good for each other!

How appropriate that this day occurs during National Moth Week, given that the agave "worm" is a moth larvae (at least it is in mezcal).

Anyone who knowingly drinks that crap deserves what they get.

Don Julio, or Don Eduardo, or Patron, or Centenario, or Tres Generaciones are all great alternatives.

Cuervo is paint thinner.

Sauza - or that stuff I had to drive miles out of town for that was coming straight out of the still . . .

Ever see anyone treat tequila like Scotch? Me neither

As a former bar manager and current liquor store rep in Texas , I'm really getting a kick...

But seriously, I have stories that will turn your hair about my experiences with Agave Nectar going back to whrn I was 14. I have sworn off of the stuff at least 10I times, but I always come back.

Words of advice:

Only drink labeled 100% Agave Tequilas. If you don't, you are mixing grain alcohol and whatever else they they think they can get away with your agave nectar. Which means hangovers that can stop an Elephant.

Milagro is the best top shelf tequila for the price. For Patron and most other "top shelf" stuff, you are paying for a coolname bottle or a brand name, or both.

If you are making Mexican Martinis or Margaritas, just get the silver, white, plata, blanco version of any 100%you agave tequila or you are wasting your money on Anejos or Reposados you can't taste.

Tequila is only going to get more expensive with time since it can only be made from one plant in one part of one country on Earth. And more and more labels keep coming out.
