This just proves that sheep are more intelligent than Bieber fans.

They just wasted money, similar studies with Elvis and Beatles fans proved it long time ago

So we could do a simple model of it in the following fashion.

1. An individual sheep will attempt to move to the center of the flock (something about center point blah blah)
2. sheep at the center will attempt to move away from the predator
The percentage of effort given to each task is proportional to how close to the center of the flock the individual sheep is.

Or to try to put it another way

A sheep will prefer to put more sheep between it and a predator than simply put distance between it and the predator.

Or to put it yet another way.

If sheep could trip each other there'd be a lot of fat wolves.

or more cynically,

Blind panic is the only thing that keeps us from immediately stabbing each other upon experiencing a disaster.

What a moronic hypothesis. The idea that sheep only follow each other demands that at least one sheep be acting independently. If one sheep has that ability, the hypothesis is shattered. No need for a study.

I don't have to out run the wolf, I only have to out run you.
'Arold is that most dangerous of animals, a clever sheep.
