I actually like Denzel, but The Equalizer is an old white guy. I guess we can expect a new Shaft starring Ryan Gosling.

Denzel Washington is about a year older now than Edward Woodward was when he started playing the "The Equalizer"

I look forward to seeing him in "Flight". It looked like a good movie.

Do you really want to go there?

- Othello
- Showboat
- True Grit
- World Trade Center

just to show how long it's been happening, with honorable mentions to:

- 21 (asian to white)
- Last Samurai (english to american)
- and every cowboys and Indian movie, ever.

and very, very special shout-out to

- any production of the Aesop's tale (that wasn't even his name)
- any on-screen or play production featuring any story involving the AEthiopians Andromeda, Cassiopeia, Cephus
- 'The Conqueror' (really, John Wayne?)

and of course, Zefferelli's 'Jesus of Nazareth'. I love it to death, but it -- like all Hollywood versions -- went through a 'Last Airbender'

You'd prefer he do a modern shuck and jive like Samuel L? What makes Samuel L.'s brand of machismo less threatening, more desireable, than Denzel Washington's brand of machismo?

Hmm ... you're sort of right. Except the Equalizer, which I also liked, was more of a "lone figure," type, a somewhat higher-class dude, and rather frowny. Also, he wore a suit. Well, I guess I don't need to get that literal. Your point is well taken.

Anyway, I liked the TV show. I particularly enjoyed that episode where he was helping some poor, f*cked-over woman get justice from a scumbag, and the Equalizer told her up front that he wouldn't waive his fee; even though she was destitute, she'd have to pay him back if it took forever. Hee, hee.

I thought Christian "bail" was the target of your derision. Cuz he made so much money and didn't get shot at like his audience.

i'm not blaming greedy hollyrock film companies any more. as long as arseholes go and pay money to see re-hash and remake dreck like this then screw them. stop going and paying to see shiat film and hollywood will stop putting it in the can. they won't have much choice. keep settling for scraps and that's what they'll serve you, you wankers.

First thing that I thought of, too. I can't remember if I even liked that show or not, but the music was fantastic.

Some actress named Mercedes Benz... I've never heard of her.

might be Julie's sister?

This.

I think Keith Szarabajka should have played the Equalizer, with William Zabka (played McCall's son, also Johnny in Karate Kid) helping out.

Hmm ... you're sort of right. Except the Equalizer, which I also liked, was more of a "lone figure," type, a somewhat higher-class dude,

The Equalizer had help in the majority of the episodes. Usually from Mickey Kostmayer, sometimes from Harley Gage. Of course, McCall ran the show, even though Keith Szarabajka did an excellent job as Mickey. With Burn Notice, I always liked Sam Axe more than Michael Weston.

Since Edward Woodward is no longer with us, and Sir Patrick Stewart is a little on the older side now, I'm mostly OK with this.

Really should be Idris Elba though.

Shame he had to blow himself up in that nursing home.

I'm surprised they didn't have Nic Cage do it, since he did such a great job playing Woodward's role in The Wicker Man remake. Or maybe do another Wicker Man remake, but with Denzel Washington.
