It knows that crossing the road would make the other chickens happy, and maybe it would get the acceptance it craves. But it just can't seem to motivate itself. Maybe it's just used to failure. Maybe it would be better off just laying in the road until a car comes by. It's not like anyone would miss one chicken, right?
