The oldest brother refused to wear short-shorts, even in balmy South Dakota.

When the rest of the family are trying to scratch off the chiggers, he'll be smiling.

We're taking the kids to the beach next week.
I've bought a horse mask.
The pictures should be priceless!

They're all better than the pics that we took when I was a kid. Just about all our vacation pics feature at least one person crying.

I don't care what anybody says....you ALL have pictures stored away somewhere that are very similar to at least some of those in the slideshow...the clothing styles may have changed, but that's about it...

/the giraffes farking was pretty funny though...

Photo #8
On our last family outing to the local zoo the giraffes were having a good time, what was really funny was a clueless lady taking photos of a grandmother? holding a kid with the giraffes going at it behind them. Would have loved to see their expressions when they realized what an impressive background they had captured.

Most people would walk up to the viewing area and then just politely drift away,... like we did -- the 14yo's eyes about popped out of his head, and we didn't really need the 5 yo asking a lot of questions at that moment.

I once saw giant turtles getting acquainted. Women with their kids were hurrying over to see what all the loud grunting noises were. Then they hurried away, with bright red faces, trying to cover the kids' eyes.

Who would have guessed that animals have sex?

Laugh all you want.

Pictures like this are priceless once the kids are gone. It doesn't matter that what your fashion sense was or how dumb you were acting, it was time that you were all together and had a great time seeing and doing stupid stuff and getting a kick out of it. My kids are only 4 and 6 and seeing all the lame stuff we did 4-5 years ago is beyond awesome. I can only imagine how important those pictures will be in 20 or 30 years.

Those are adorable photos of families having a good time. I say "Boo hiss" to the concept of mocking people for just being themselves. On with the snark, I've spoken my piece.

A2M is sometimes okay in the heat of the moment. Better that she learn this now, rather than latter when she is old enough.

As one of the people in those photos (yes, I'm in this particular set), I want to assure you that this was self-submitted, and we're laughing at ourselves as well. It's a picture that just happened to catch each of us at a bad moment: I'm mid-blink, my sister is mid-chew (and has a broken wrist), and my dad is slouching so it looks like the weight of the world is crushing him, but that's just how it was the instant the camera took the picture. It's not how it always was. That's not even our kitchen; we were visiting friends of my mom.

The outfits, though--my mom made all of them. My sister and I can buy our own outfits now, but my dad has always loved loud shirts. He's just reaching the age when it can be considered eccentric instead of dorky.

/When Awkward Family Photos asked us for the rights to the picture, my mom was the least enthusiastic. Again, the rest of us think it's hilarious because we look so terrible. She's earnest, and she's a little miffed that people are making fun of her hard work.
