Of course not. It's so obvious that this guy is a right winger. I mean, Rush was just hammering this Bane/Bain thing, and this guy goes and blows up a theatre to "save America".

Hey, you missed one:

Breitbart.com

James Holmes, the suspect arrested in connection with the mass shootings at a screening of the new Batman movie early this morning in Aurora, CO, could be a registered Democrat, according to documents obtained by Breitbart News. Earlier, ABC News' Brian Ross and George Stephanopoulos speculated on Good Morning America that Holmes was a Tea Party member, based solely on a name appearing on a Tea Party website.

The James Holmes for whom Breitbart News has obtained documentation is 25 years old (the suspect has been reported as 24 years old). He has links to addresses in both Colorado and San Diego, where his mother has been reported to be from, according to news reports. He was issued a traffic citation in 2011--his sole run-in with the law. The same is true for the suspect arrested in connection with the shootings, according to reports. Update: Fox News reports that the suspect has a California-issued social security number, as does the man in the documents obtained by Breitbart News--a significant correlation, assuming the sources are independent.

Furthermore, the James Holmes for whom records were obtained by Breitbart News registered as a Democrat on June 14, 2011. He registered from an address in La Plata County, Colorado, and his status is listed as "inactive."

Breitbart News has not confirmed that this James Holmes is in fact the suspect, but the details above appear to match closely. There are certainly more facts in our documents than in ABC News' irresponsible speculations.

Update (12:21 EDT): I remind readers that we have not, as of yet, confirmed that this James Holmes is in fact the suspect. Attempts to reach this James Holmes by telephone have not been successful. In addition, it appears there are several individuals using the same social security number listed to the James Holmes in our documents. We have also obtained documentation for a James Holmes in Aurora, CO whose address may match that of the suspect but whose date of birth and voter registration cannot currently be obtained.

Update (12:49 EDT): Newly-released information on the suspect's birthdate (which, as indicated in our initial report, was a slight mismatch), combined with new details Breitbart News has obtained about the suspect's likely addresses, together suggest that the suspect may, in fact, not have been registered to vote.

Gun control is pointless. Nobody is going to really worry about it, because most Americans know that guns are only a tool.

If you ban guns, then we'll see more stabbings. Ban knives? more Rock-throwing massacres.

Machetes were used in the Rwandan Genocide... definitely not a gun.

And if that fails, just say that really their philosophies were more liberal, like the nazis who were liberal too.

The fact that it took the political pundits all of two who seconds of shock and grief over this massacre before they started using it to flog an agenda is amazing. But then they did the same thing over the Deepwater Horizon Spill.

Some horrible thing have nothing to do with politics. This was a farked up human being and the results are appallingly tragic. I understand that the comic book artists and writers are talking about a project to benefit the victims families. I hope that comes together.

Speaking as a comic book fan 26 years running and as someone who is fully aware of the whole "Seduction of the Innocent" thing and agrees that this was a total whackjob, I do think it is time that the big publishing houses, especially Marvel, look at how they have abandoned heroic ideals in favor of shock and awe, moral ambiguity, and romanticized evil. JMS made a very blatant indictment against the loss of heroism in comic books a few years ago in Thor. I don't think we need Congressional hearings, but I do think before writers and artists pick up the pen/pencils, they should take a minute to think about what they are saying beyond, "This will be so shocking and cool and universe altering they'll *have* to buy it!"

So I think it will be interesting to see if the superhero comic book landscape changes after this.

Your second assertion is incorrect and you know it.

Despite the juvenile antics of the small but loud NRA clique, those who are for firearms ownership rights detest this kind of thing. This is supported by their response to anti-gun activists being "if good people are armed, massacres like this could be stopped sooner than the police can respond."

I would like to know what the NRA proposes as a solution to these massacres (besides moar guns for everyone.) They are not natural events like tornadoes, and even with natural disasters we make every attempt to predict them and decrease casualties.

What does this NRA have in the pipeline as a way to prevent or decrease the body count?

Interesting.

So you're saying that pretending like "The Media" is a thing and that all members therein act in a certain way is very similar to pretending like "Black People" are an entity whose members all act in a certain way?

Funny how that works out...It's probably unpossible that the Venn diagram between people who make each of those claims has significant overlap, right?

HotWingConspiracy:
Fact: Crazy motherfarkers are allowed to own arsenals walk around without restrictions.

For most of history, crazy people were either thrown out of most communities (if they were poor) or locked away in dark rooms (if they were rich). That meant most of the really crazy people were vagabonds, or as we call them nowadays, "homeless."

A century or so back, "progressives" got the government to build a bunch of asylums, where they locked away the crazy people, since they couldn't actually treat them worth a damn. It kept the worst of the crazies off the streets, and gave the early psych doctors someone to perform stupid and cruel experiments on.

In the 1960s and 1970s, "progressives" decided that the asylums they'd built were a bad idea, so they started "mainstreaming" the crazy people. That meant giving them drugs, sending them out into the world, and hoping they'd take the drugs (that they mostly didn't like taking, so they'd throw the drugs away as soon as they walked out the door). You can see the results on street corners in most major cities. Some of the high-functioning lunatics are, well, making news.

Now? I'm expecting a new call for "psychiatric support" from the current generation of medical progressives. Instead of "asylum," it'll be something like "active mental health intervention facility."

They have those, but every once in a while, someone palms their meds before heading out into the world and has a breakdown.

It is still light years ahead of just sending them out into the street or torturing them in an asylum, but it costs a lot of money.

Doesn't it bother you at all that this guy was considered "good" 24 hours before all of this?
