uber humper: topcon: Oh no, "big boobs."

Thank god that kind of feminism has pretty much gone away. Dworkin was one sick biatch. I'm pretty sure she is why I disregard most feminists, now. She hurt the cause more than she helped it.

It's a lot better than it used to be. Though there are still kooks, you'll find a fringe element in any movement.

Icetech3: man i HATE my country sometimes... why is MS apologizing? and how is this offensive? When did nipples and titties become more offensive than seeing someones brain being blown out on tv? Am i the only person that see this as wrong?

I'm thinking it's you, me and Larry Flynt see this as wrong.

This is a case of idiocy - not objectification of women or of sex. It's some 23 year old coder jerking our chain.
Take it for what it is, publish the coders name or fire the person and move on.
There are people to lay to rest and babies being born, all infinitely more important than some wanker working for MSFT

OK, I'm a feminist and all (with big boobs, even), but can this country just collectively grow the fark up now? The words "big boobs," absent of context, do not constitute a sexist remark. I think most of us understand that one Microsoft programmer leaving the words "big boobs" in his code is kind of unprofessional, but hardly demonstrates that Microsoft has made a corporate commitment to "rape culture"[1].

All this proves is that the basement-dwelling code monkeys at Microsoft are behind the times. Everybody knows that in the 21st century, it's all about the booty.

/big boobs

[1] Can this term go away now? Can't we just respond to offensive rape-related comments with some sort of witty rejoinder, like "That shiat is TOP NOTCH COMEDY, bro. Last week I raped your mom and it was HI-larious!"

"There is enough real sexism that runs throughout tech circles that bringing up stupid things like this does nothing but give deniers more ammunition to point to when dismissing any charges of sexism as stupid.

I am a woman, I used to work in tech (and now do tech for research academics), and I have experienced a pretty large amount of sexist behavior in my career, from the merely annoying ("you must be the secretary" "no, I'm the team lead") to the work affecting and frustrating ("let me condescendingly explain this incredibly simple thing to you and completely tune out anything you're saying because girls are dumb") to the incredibly farking horrifying ("you should be raped for doing this that way" "stupid coont" - yes, both said by people I was collaborating with, and the repercussions to them weren't nearly as severe as they should have been for such a transgression).

A variable named big boobs is so not even on my farking radar and is so farking stupid to even mention that I'm actually kind of pissed so anyone even mentioned it. It's dumb and childish to put it in in the first place, but who cares?"

This is just another example of the oppressive Kyriarchy using body shaming to subjugate and demean womyn everywhere. Not only is it sexist, it's also horrifically ableist and classist, as in order to interpret it, you need to understand hexadecimal code (ableism), which is mostly only taught in high-priced schools and books (obvious classism). Not only that, but this smacks of racism, as I imagine the code itself was written with an editor that had a white background (suggesting that anything non-white wasn't "good enough"). Maybe the knuckle-dragging dudebros get a kick out of it, but I think it's time that we organize a march against Microsoft, for this obvious sexist, classist, ableist, and racist hexadecimal word. (I propose we call it "Hexwalk").

It is highly inappropriate, which is also an element in most humor. This is considered sexist because it describes the female anatomy in crude or slang terms and enforces stereotypes about body shape. That being said, when I see a sign for "Big Dicks Crab Shop" I don't get offended by the stereotype that bigger dicks are better than smaller ones, I don't apply the words to myself by default, but somehow when "bigboobies" is put somewhere inappropriate it's a sign of society oppressing a gender. I'm really torn on this one, that kind of language surely doesn't belong in commercial code from a top company, but the outrage level seems a little out of proportion with the level of the infraction.
