They have to have something to get them through their life of mediocrity and failed IT careers.

This just in, stupid people do stupid things.

If you give someone you cell/pc/whatever make sure personal info is stripped off. Don't trust them to do it. Doesn't matter who/what/where your talking about.

Did Rick Romero write this?

There were several additional...missteps...by the customer. It's actually kinda funny.

I realize the lawyer's focus in making this video was to get this woman's story down, but would it have killed him to pan back a little, maybe add some music? And yes, I'd like to see what this woman calls "racy" pictures.

Shes a horrible human, who gives a shiat.. if you are whore enough to take nude pics of yourself, don't cry when people see them..

BG, i dont think that my believing you don't need nude pics of yourself on your cell phone makes me behind the times... my main point is... if you dont want people to see pictures... don't take pictures....

P.S. after seeing kat dennings magic titties from her webcam... im all for it... just not the whining once people see them:)

Icetech3, you'll have to forgive me for not getting this:
"my main point is... if you dont want people to see pictures... don't take pictures"

from what you actually said, which was this:
"Shes a horrible human, who gives a shiat.. if you are whore enough to take nude pics of yourself, don't cry when people see them.."

Can you see why?

2012-07-23 10:25:09 AM
Why would you bother? Cause...damn. It's like Marlon Wayans in drag.

Didn't Best Buy basically get rid of the Geek Squad? Isn't this pretty much a non issue anymore?

Besides, anyone paying attention knew that the people on Best Buy's payroll got shiat for salary. When you don't pay someone much for their job, they take advantage of every opportunity they can because it balances the inequality to many. That's how it works.

If you want better service, don't take your system to the worst place for service.

I would be really surprised if that was the case. GS was their most profitable division.

A close friend of mine was a Geek Squad repair guy for about 4 years. He told me multiple times during those years how surprised he was that so many attractive women kept photos of themselves on their computers, in easily found places.

If he's to be believed, he didn't search for them, but some people didn't hide their photos, and if there's a photo on the desktop called "my pussy" or something to the effect that he thought the photos might be in there, he had no problem clicking. And sending them to his cell phone, where he would brag to me and the rest of his buddies.

From my understanding of it, if you want those photos to be private, hide them better or encrypt them or something. Or don't store it. As a hot chick, the naked photos of my hawt 25 year old body are kept safely stored on a 16gb thumb drive which lives in my wallet. That drive has all my porn (what can't be found on the internet), a ubuntu installer, the various programs I use to repair windows when people ask, and my bitcoin wallet.

I don't want to say that's dumb, but that's dumb. I mean, unless there's zero chance of you losing you wallet of having it stolen.

I used to monitor the spam filter for incoming/outgoing emails. One very attractive woman decided to send before and after pics of her boobjob, which got caught in the filter. We could never look at her the same way again...they were fabulous!

Oh, you wanted a horror story? Said filter would always quarantine photos, to the point that the guy I worked with would "save" emails for me to review (and vice versa) since it was essentially an easy way to view "free porn." Well, one day, someone decided to send one of our employees an email with a generic subject header...said email contained 27 photos of a graphic sex change operation (M2F). Being the courteous person I am, I saved that email for my coworker and was most amused at the sounds of sheer revulsion when he opened it up.

/For some reason, that email was sent again to the same guy a few months later
//And I saved it yet again for my coworker
///Good times

Not my story, but happened to a friend.

So some of you may remember the old ADT security system commercials like this that would show the house being encased in coded blue lights.

My friend and another guy installed a home security system at an old ladies house that took forever. When they were done, she asked where the blue lights were. When they explained that the effect was just for the commercial, she immediately had them uninstall the system.

This had nothing to do with the Geek Squad, since Best Buy has a separate Cell Phone dept and stand alone stores. Also, don't sell your phone to strangers? Derp? The kid shouldn't have offered to buy her phone, but it sounds like he tried to get her the missing stuff. Best Buy wouldn't have given her anything for her phone with their buy back program, maybe 10 bucks. She should've backed up and cleared the phone herself.

/But wtf am I thinking. It's time to crap all over any techy in a retail job in a crap economy. Who am I to block flying feces.

I don't I understand why the hate on formatting drives. Some peoples machines are so screwed up, the only thing TO DO is put their drive in an enclosure, pull the data with a working machine, reformat the drive and then put the data ( pictures etc) back. Unless they feel like shelling out for a new drive, then they can have the old drive back.

Thats just my method though, and I've only been doing this for about 12 years. Am I missing something?

I don't believe that. No one is that stupid. If so, I just lost a little more faith in humanity.

Unless one of my best friends is lying to me; but he lost quite a bit of faith in humanity that day, himself.

I had Geek Squad to a car stereo install last year. Mildly complicated - extra modules for nav and sat radio, which meant antennas for both. They did a great job, my mechanic commented that it looked like it came that way from the factory.

They even sent me to a nearby auto parts store to pick up a switch, so they could install an illegal bypass allowing me to watch DVDs while the car is moving (passengers seem to like music videos or some old Simpsons playing in the car). I tipped the techs an extra $20 for being so cool about that.

Had a minor problem much later, after the car had been in the shop for aircon work, and the dash had been disassembled. Geek Squad tech fixed it, told me there was no charge. Tipped another $20 for, again, being cool.

Compared to dealing with idiots at some unknown car customizer shop, or spending my afternoon trying to get it all right without breaking some plastic part of that dash pulling it apart or putting it together, I thought they were a great value.

I bolded the part that Best Buy either dosen't do, or charges way too much to do if you ask, and never does correctly.

This. I used to work for Geek Squad. The killer part is that they looked at me weird when I asked where their Knoppix LiveCD was. Like they never had heard of using Linux to rescue a broken Windows system...

Also, this story illustrates another weakness of the iPhone. My phone has removable storage. I have some porn on my phone. If I sell my phone, I keep my porn because I keep my SD card (no way I'm giving a 32 GB SD card away when I sell my phone). This way, I can transfer my shiat to my new phone. And, as has been mentioned, farking factory reset your phone.
