How much d'you think it would've pulled in if it hadn't been for the tragedy in Aurora?

Thinking it might have made it a little higher sadly, the thinking in some minds that watching a movie that had murders take place during a viewing as a good thing. It is sad.

I'm more inclined to think of it as a form of slacktivism - going to the movie to "show support".

If this guy had been more brown and from a village in Goatfarkistan, later linked to any non-domestic terror group, the film would be pulled and our dicks would be grazed by irritated guards the next time we went to a theater.

You need to watch a movie to prove you aren't scared? That's pretty pathetic.

Remember folks. Speculation about a movie's potential gross means you should have been murdered by a madman.

What the f*ck is wrong with you?

Actually, if Warner Brothers was smart here, they'd buy millions of little plastic wristbands that are black and stamped with the word BATSTRONG. They'd give these out at the theater as customers are on their way out from the movie as a way for people to show solidarity, to show that they cannot be intimidated. That they cannot be forced to surrender their rights. That they will watch the movie despite their fears -- no, no, not despite their fears but BECAUSE OF their fears. They will show to the world that they are the unbowed masses who know that beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the terror of the shade, and they are unafraid. They are all of us. They are BATSRONG.

It could be the start of a pretty cool movement, I think.

Because someone shooting up a movie theater is a thing now? Okay, copycatting is a thing, so I guess it's possible that it would happen again. But this was an isolated incident from an isolated nutter. It shouldn't stop anyone from going to the movies.

Grownups, especially the elderly, are no better.

I saw Moonrise KIngdom on Saturday. No kids. But damn are old people loud!

If I wanted running commentary over the dialog, I would have waited for the DVD.

Great flick, BTW. Anderson has a real knack for finding young acting talent.

Maybe their numbers would be better if they didn't release the film in the middle of Outdoors season?

I went and worked on the ranch this weekend, clearing scrub oak and cutting a new road from the upper meadow down to tie it in to the fire road.

Maybe I'll go see Batman later.

Summer is when they release most of the big movies. It's been that way since the 80s.

I couldn't understand a damn thing he said in the first half of the movie. It was fine in the second half when he started using the microphone.

So does anyone else think the Scarecrow role in the movie was originally meant for the Joker? The "death by exile" thing seems much more in line with the Joker.

Midway through the opening scene I was wishing the movie was subtitled. Bain's croaking was that bad and I knew I had Batman's throat lozenge commercial voice to look forward to.

Nah. The Joker didn't usurp or undermine systems; he just flat-out destroyed them.

In D&D terms, the Joker is Chaotic Evil; that was Lawful Evil at its finest.

yeah easy 200 million. and that's without the 3D premium. which in my town is 3 bucks. 12 bucks for a 2D ticket, 15 bucks for a 3D ticket

I went out to see it with a group of friends Thursday night celebrating a birthday. I dozed off during parts of it, so when a guy I went out on a date with wanted to see it yesterday, I went again.

I never once thought...hey, somebody might shoot us. But I did notice that the Sean Penn movie trailer was gone (where the gangsters come shooting through the movie screen). I'd heard they were replacing that one on the news, and I was surprised to see it was true, as they're still showing it on TV.

Seemed like there were several more trailers for comedies that I hadn't seen the first time, replacing ones that may have been seen as too violent.

Jonathan Nolan didn't write the screenplay until after TDK was released. But yeah it would have been better had the Joker said it.

Bane's voice was Sean Connery with a cancer kazoo. I thought it was cool in the first scene but then I had a hard time understanding him and was annoyed. And why the shiat does some guy born in a hellish prison in the desert have a frickin Scottish accent?

I think it was pretty obvious that Alfred has a mental breakdown at the end of the film and becomes Azrael, so the next movie will be about that.

And next, I bet that you're going to tell me Batman overcame something as crippling as the death of his mother and father and beat the best supervillians in the world seven straight times (Batman, Returns, Forever, Robin, Begins, The Dark Knight, Rises) without the use of any performance-enhancing substances.

Yeah, okay. Got it. Lol.

I hate dealing with opening weekend crowds. The last time I saw a big movie on opening weekend was Star Wars Episode 3 and that was only because I won tickets. I did get to see a guy dressed as Spider Man tackle a guy dressed as Darth Vader, so that was cool. Now I start fights with Star Wars nerds about how Spider Man can beat up Darth Vader since I saw it happen.

You must have not seen Hardy in Bronson, I got a kick picturing a swirly mustache under the mask and it was also kinda like watching Darth Vader un-dubbed with the Scotish actors voice.

Saw the movie last night at a packed theater (although with wine, buckets of beer and good food, even Madea Takes A Dump can sell out at this place) and enjoyed it. Bane's voice was a little weird at the beginning especially with them being on a plane and it just sounded like he was in a doctors office lobby. I got used to it though.

Great movie overall. I'll be honest, I liked it better than TDK. TDK dragged on at times and the end was incredibly anticlimatic for me. The ending to this film did not disappoint at all.

I know in retrospect no one in that theater will care, but I went in knowing at what point this asshole busted into the theater. They really got to see nothing :(
