The funniest pictures are of him as a kid. He's obviously queerer than a 3 dollar bill in both of those so he must have started taking the pills in grade school. The shots of his shaved head show he has a full head of hair which makes you wonder if he's even taking the stuff.

According to the New York Post New York Post, the drug taken was a generic version of Propecia ordered from an online pharmacy in India, a country well know for counterfeit products. So who knows what this guy really took.

Meanwhile, his wife claims her birth control pills are causing uncontrollable hair growth...

Dinjiin: Ghastly: I've heard of people growing tits as a side effect but I doubt it can make you want to be a woman.

Yeah, I call BS as well.

Skeletal development begins to slow by age 16 and is mostly done by 22. The dude in the story is 38. Going onto estrogen replacement and progesterone blockers at 38 will give you tits, decrease your muscle mass and move some fat deposits around, but it isn't major. Since finasteride is only a progesterone blocker, the feminizing effects should be even less apparent since men only generate a small amount of estrogen natually. Yet he is claiming some significant physical changes. And then there are the psychological changes he is claiming, as well.

If his son took finasteride in 6 or 7 years from now, then that'd be different.

I'm not sure about a guy, but I had to start taking birth control (and later spironolactone for my skin) when my hair started falling out in multiple handfuls daily. I'd had signs of a hormone balance and some severe cases in other women in the family. I lost 30 lbs without changing anything other than that, and when I gained some back later on--any at all--it gained back so differently I got stretch marks on my outer thighs from only about 10 lbs. I'm STILL shocked sometimes by how different my silhouette is.

That said, considering the source, who knows what really happened.

Cross dresser: McKee, center, said he started to cross dress and called himself Mandi as the pills meant he felt more female than male.

All 3 of them are men, right???

I've seen sasquatch and Loch Ness monster photos with less fuzz blur on them. Needs more JPEG!

False.

Ya, another vote for BS. The effects of finasteride are never so dramatic and the decision to completely alter a life on such a gossamer pretense is patently unbelievable. Someone was just looking for a way to receive permission without taking full responsibility. My take.

Another interpretation: a story to scare people away from generic drugs, foreign-made generics, or Merck products, or a way to boost the hair transplantation industry.

That's a different thread.

I suspect the person involved always had a desire to cross dress and have a sex change, but was not willing to admit it to themselves or others. As time transpired the desires became stronger until he finally starts cross dressing and openly discusses getting a sex change. He attempts to find an explanation, not fully understanding himself, and grasps on the only thing in his life that changed despite there being no causal link between his desires and the medication.

I believe this is similar to the English man who suffered a stroke and "woke up gay".
Every professional who studied the case states there is no possibility the man's change in sexual orientation was a result of his stroke. Even the man's current boyfriend doesn't believe there is a link.

In both case the intervening event acts as an excuse the men can point to to explain their change in sexuality. They can deny that they were always that way, and can claim "it's not my fault, the intervening event made me this way." If it makes it easier for them and their friends and family to accept their current orientation, than good.
