Speaking of manufactured popularity, Mitt Romney is buying twitter followers.

Walker: You gotta be f*ckin me. Congress already blackmailed the Washington Airport Authority and made them change the name of Washington National Airport to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. They said "Change the name or else we're not releasing the money for improvements at National and Dulles". Reminds me of how Congress blackmailed the states to either raise their drinking age to 21 or get no Federal highway funds. Blackmail, it's illegal....except when the Government does it.

It will always be Washington National to me. I have never and will never refer to it as anything else.

It would seem to explain the right wing media's incessant deification of Reagan over the last 25 years. It would also explain why they seem to ignore the facts of his time in office. Can't let reality get in the way of a hard-forged creation story, you know.

Not a conservative by any stretch, but my opinion is that Reagan is the anti-Obama. No conservative Republican has ever really been as charismatic as Reagan before or since, at least in the lifetimes of most Republicans and Teabaggers. He's easier to gather around than, say, either of the Bushes, Ford, Nixon, or Eisenhower. Ironically, all of these Republicans would be considered extreme RINOs (if not liberal in Ike's and maybe Nixon's case), if they ran on their records today.

Republicans believe Obama is the idol for liberals, so they adopt one of their own. Learning by imitation.

- Helped win the Cold War.
- United the country.
- Brought integrity to the White House.
- Never raised taxes.
- Never compromised with terrorists.

He is one of the few true conservatives to ever walk this Earth, along with me and ObamaSucks8875 on the Obama Sucks forums. There is a reason I transformed my son's bedroom into a room for Ronald Reagan memorabilia. My son does not appreciate having to sleep on the floor, but Reagan did not appreciate liberals, and he dealt with it. My son will do the same.

I appreciate the response, but must kindly point to Bush Sr for being a fiscal conservative at a tough time. It even cost him the election, but he respected that his war must be paid for. It seems like Reagan and Bush Jr. did not have that concern for the conflicts they were both engaged in during their respective times in office. Bush Sr. seems like a solid conservative, as does Clinton, but not Reagan and Bush Jr.

While that is true, sadly, raising taxes automatically disqualifies you from being considered a conservative by the rabid members that currently control the Republican Party. Reagan raised taxes too, several times in fact, but the difference between him and Bush Sr. is charisma.

He stuck it to the libs. All that silly "policy" crap is for elitists. Taxes? Spending? Debt? Budget deficits? Who gives a damn? This is all about team colors. Look, you're either waving a red bandanna or you're an enemy, get it? All good Republicans understand that Reagan really wanted to cut taxes, but he raised them to screw the libs. He wanted to cut spending, but he instituted the greatest federal spending program in the history of the US because it was the best way to piss off the libs. He wanted to save America, but there were a whole bunch of libs in it, so he had to destroy the country in order to save it.

Yeah, granted, Reagan single-handedly destroyed the middle class and set the US on the course towards becoming a third world nation with a crumbling infrastructure, but that's not important. What's really important is that he pissed off the libs.

Don't you get it? The good of the nation is irrelevant; the only thing that matters is pissing off the libs. If we have to destroy America to do that, then so be it. Red Bandannas forever!

It must be easy, using a dead man as the symbol of your party.

I have no doubt that Reagan would have taken this current House and assorted media nuts to task in interviews, were he still alive. I don't think he would be anti-GOP. But you gotta know that now and again he'd say something like, "Cantor and the rest of these guys should probably stop playing chicken with something as vital as America's credit rating. And by the way, Grover, I raised taxes when I had to."

Not often or overbearing, mind you, but in the subtle, annual way ex-presidents tend to slip into interviews.

But hey, he's dead and everything Hannity says about him is EXACTLY how things happened. You dipsh*ts who swallow this stuff hole can't even be bothered with a cursory Google search. The shocking thing is that most Reagan worshipers were adults when he was in office. Is the sh*t they feed you on FOX and AM radio that powerful, or is it farking Alzheimer's?

Whoa, comment disappeared.

Anyway, I was saying that the GOP ought to take a little time in between re-naming oceans, controlling women's bodies, and starting politically motivated witch hunts, in order to focus on the economy. Difficulty: more corporate welfare and tax cuts for the wealthy doesn't count.

Before I even get to the political ramifications, I was upset with the etymological ramifications. You can't just call an economic exclusivity zone a sea. A sea is a pretty amorphous term to begin with, but it is in no way analogous to an EEZ. If we start calling EEZs "Seas" then there's no limit to what we can call bodies of water. We can call rivers lakes and lakes oceans. Why don't we just do that? Rename Lake Michigan the Reagan Ocean. Wouldn't that sound nice? "There's some great littoral property in Chicago with beautiful views of the Reagan Ocean."

I guess if we've got a sea somewhere (as in, a distinct body of water) with a shiatty and/or boring name this is reasonable. Hell, rename lake Texoma up in north Texas, that's possibly the dumbest name ever (literally just amalgamating "Texas" and "Oklahoma" because creativity is dead on the red river) and it's artificial so it's reasonable to name it after people. But just arbitrarily renaming coastal waters is kinda... stupid.

Also, why stop at honoring Reagan by renaming random crap? Let's also make songs about his magical teleportation powers.
