but Phelps had his own area that was just for his group.

I take it she's never been part of a smoking circle before.

And remember kids - proper rotation around a high is clockwise.

sorry phelps doesn't want to party with you, ronda, he's too busy winning gold medals left and right.

Pretty simple instructions

"I don't like being somebody's teammate and being treated like I'm a groupie. I didn't even want to go out of my way to say hello to that guy. Get over yourself. All you do is swim. If someone slapped you every time you jumped in the pool, I might have a little respect, but I was a swimmer before I did this stuff, and you can't tell me that swimming is OH MY GOD, because it's not."

Jesus, what a coont.

Do they time female MMA fights for when they're on their period?

She should get punched in the coont. I think someone who wins 8 gold medals in one Olympiad can pay attention to whomever he wants, in whatever degree he wants. It's kinda one of the perks of WINNING 8 GOLD MEDALS IN ONE OLYMPICS. Not something that happens all the time.

First, Ronda isn't the only one to call him out for his behavior. Another swimmer did as well

Secondly, the NBA players (all multi-millionaires) hung out with the rest of the American team. She's calling out Phelps for NOT hanging out with the rest of the team.

Now it could be that he's shy or he's just a self-centered douchebag...we'll never know.

The other swimmer whined about Phelps not having to train as hard as the rest of the team:

"The fact that he doesn't have to work as hard to get that done, it's a real shame," Clary told the paper.

This is the equivalent of someone complaining about an A-grade student who doesn't have to study to keep good grades. Phelps is apparently just a great natural swimmer. No reason for Clary to biatch about the guy.

No but try imagine any woman you've know having her weight announced over the loud speakers to an arena full of people.

Wow. A bunch of people who spent their entire lives training instead of learning how to socialize with peers. Amazing that they act like children, isn't it?

(The exact reason I will never force my children into training. It turns them into social retards).

Woman. Some random woman. Not another Olympic athlete. Not a current women's MMA fighter. Just some woman.

Actually, yeah....there is for me. 'Cause I haven't heard any criticism of Michael Phelps that couldn't easily be looked upon as those people just being envious, jealousy or both.

The man spent his Olympics winning gold medals, doing 3000 interviews and banging Stephanie Rice. Sorry he didn't have time for you, sweetie.

Perhaps he's simply an introvert? Winning multiple medals doesn't mean a person is outgoing and enjoys making small talk with people they don't know. Also seem to recall during the last olympics a couple of the female athletes making comments to the press about him being physically unattractive. Things like that can effect a person's willingness to mingle.

Besides, if he was treating her like a groupie, wouldn't he be doing blow off her ass instead of ignoring her?

....Rousey isn't the first athlete to criticize Phelps, who can break Larissa Latynina's all-time medal record with three medals in London. Fellow swimmer Tyler Clary questioned Phelps' work ethic after the Olympic Trials....

Maybe she and Tyler can make a "Michael Phelps is a Big Meanie" club. Bitter, party of 2.

I'd rather my kid become a socially retarded record-breaking Olympian with millions in endorsements instead of just another "well-adjusted" schmuck. Granted, sequestering a child to train for 10 years is no actual guarantee of massive success...

Don't worry. You'll soon have seven Tour de France (1999-2005) titles to redistribute to due to doping.

That swimming, even at Phelp's level, is not as difficult or painful as judo, MMA or other contact sports ?

2012-07-22 03:35:41 PM
Maybe if they slapped you when got up from the mat in judo I'd care a little, but all they do is hug and throw each other around. Sometimes they hug the other persons arm super tight.

Too bad sarah Kaufman will be donating one of her arms to this stuck up biatch. Would love to see Honda housey get humbled.

Training for long hours and becoming a world-class athlete does not necessarily hinder social development. As a matter of fact it seems pretty rare, in my personal experience training helped pretty much every aspect of my life, from my social development by giving confidence, to my education by teaching me discipline.

Granted, not everyone reacts the same way (especially the education part) but as far as the social development aspect is concerned, an overwhelming majority of the world-class athletes I have met are very well-adjusted individuals.

2012-07-22 04:41:41 PM
If he hadn't competed yet when this happened, then it's an entirely plausible situation. Plenty of people get in the zone before their competitions.

Also, Rousey is an incomparable whiner and loudmouth, and has never met a camera she didn't absolutely love (to take the opportunity to biatch out someone else).

Fantastic how a tiny section of an interview with truly awesome Ronda Rousey gets pulled out and turned into its own piece just because it mentions *Michael Phelps*. How the fark is this news-worthy?

She needs to stop being annoyed with Phelps, and turn her ire on the media sycophants inflating Phelps' head.

No, this is closer to complaining about Randy Moss taking plays off. Phelps is incredible, but with great opportunity comes great responsibility. It's his last Olympics, don't you think he would be training harder than ever? But he's didn't. We'll see how it turns out.

KingVJ: CBS's 60 mins is going to have Michael on & show us how lazy is really is.

Watched it. He does seem to have the "I'm Michael Phelps, I do what I want" attitude, but I bet he still wins a metric assload of medals anyway. And while maybe he didn't socialize with the other athletes the way Rousey would've liked, at least he hasn't been badmouthing other athletes. He is also under no obligation to be everyone's pal.

Okay, who doesn't go 'I'm Vernon J' & do what I want?(or whatever their name is).

WE all have events that we are proud of, maybe he was just having a bad day.

Rousey is great at getting her name out there, and this is no exception. Whether people love her or hate her, she gets them to pay attention. Ratings for her fights go up, and subsequently she gets paid more. Gathering haters is intended, and many of you have fallen right into the trap.
