Well, it is Florida.

This isn't a repeat? Oh yeah, it was just from that thread.

Anyway, I was really impressed with the older gentleman's form. He tucked a knee to get a more stable shot and reduce his profile.

Is that a .22?

Florida tag still buffering, Apostrophe tag lost in the network cloud, apparently.

2012-07-22 12:09:15 PM
Wow, that old man was really giving chase! I hope he doesn't get hit with some bullshiat charges for firing after them.

FYI to those who are unfamiliar with what an internet cafe is:

FL law allows "sweepstakes" style gambling where there are a fixed amount of winners and the prizes and odds are made known to the player. Gamers can buy credits in exchange for playing some stupid game on a computer and that enters them into the sweepstakes. It is kind of like playing a scratch-off on a computer screen.

And good on this old man. I'm sure the anti-gun crowd would rather this guy, his wife and the rest of the patrons sit back and take it like the good victims they are.

Either that or a 9mm, otherwise they wouldnt have made it out the door. Too bad the old guy probably doesnt like batman flicks, coulda used him on Friday.

I'm not sure about the legality of continuing to fire at them as they're outside and obviously fleeing.

2012-07-22 12:11:42 PM
Shame he is not a Batman fan. Things could have come out different if a cool hand like him was there and ready.

consider this: I'm not sure about the legality of continuing to fire at them as they're outside and obviously fleeing.

I don't believe he was firing on them, merely continuing to present arms to make sure they didn't come back, but you're right.

It was a .38 and he's covered under Florida's stand your ground law and won't be facing charges...

2012-07-22 12:14:48 PM
I wonder if the thugs thought guns were those things you point at someone to make them do what you tell them to.

They didn't even think of firing back, probably never had a plan to shoot, and maybe didn't even have ammo or real guns.

Piling over themselves to get out the door.

I don't think the idea behind being anti gun ever really asks anyone to just be victims. I think the question is if we really would like to live in a society where we are all armed, not if it can sometimes be of benefit.

Our gun culture may have times when it benefits us. But it has shown many, many examples of being completely awful.

2012-07-22 12:15:17 PM
Terrible shot. He whiffed three times from 10 feet away

2012-07-22 12:15:34 PM
Good thing he didn't kill one of them as they were running out the door, or he'd be in trouble I bet. Hell, even shooting at them at that point should get him some charges.

Still, good work.

In the same vein, I'm sure the pro-gun crowd wishes there were more shootouts in public like the bloodthirsty vigilantes they are.

Bio-nic: I don't believe he was firing on them, merely continuing to present arms to make sure they didn't come back, but you're right.

He was definitely firing after they fell over themselves like Looney Tunes characters at the door. Not condemning him, but he was certainly shooting.

2012-07-22 12:17:01 PM
Yakity sax after he starts firing.

2012-07-22 12:17:08 PM
Wow. 71 is evidently past the onset of geezerhood. I'd better start prepping.......

Speaking as someone who's not that far away, yeah, a .38 is enough if you know where your shots are going, and.....yeah.

2012-07-22 12:17:29 PM

Legal. Just because they have their backs to him doesn't mean the suspects are not still armed and dangerous.

2012-07-22 12:17:35 PM
One of the two is already out of jail on a $11,000 bond. An $11,000 bond for armed robbery, are you farking kidding me?

2012-07-22 12:18:33 PM
The "interent cafes" in Flordia are strip-mall casinos. That's why they get robbed.

2012-07-22 12:19:58 PM
Dude was a bit excessive, especially firing out the door. Where did the bullets that missed go?

I always preferred .45/70 (then again, putting holes in the next two buildings over wasn't on that agenda either)

Superjew: In the same vein, I'm sure the pro-gun crowd wishes there were more shootouts in public like the bloodthirsty vigilantes they are.

I'd rather nobody pull guns in public and act like general asshats but until then, I support the rights of people to defend themselves.

TimonC346: Our gun culture may have times when it benefits us. But it has shown many, many examples of being completely awful.

Thats the trade off. In a gun-less society, we are not all equals. Women and the elderly are still prime targets for young men with baseball bats. A self-defense class at your local yoga studio is not the best protection against a 6'3" 250 guy climbing through your window.

Firearms are the equalizer.

LOL, you really think this old guy with a popgun would stand a chance again an AR15 with a 100 round drum magazine, by someone in body armor* who was already firing?

(don't know if the body armor part is confirmed or not)

2012-07-22 12:21:52 PM
Also, the only .380 ACP that I would own is a Walther PPK. Because that gun is stylish and because James Bond

/yes I realize Bond used the .32 version of the PPK.

2012-07-22 12:21:59 PM
Of course he won't be charged. They were wearing hoodies.

2012-07-22 12:22:26 PM
I came in here to comment about how suprised I am that internet cafes still exist in Modern America, but, instead I'm going to rail on submitter for his egregiousness abuse of the apostrophe, since no one else has done so clearly.

You are a monster. What did that apostrophe ever do to you, submitter?!.

Yes.

It doesn't matter the caliber of the gun, only that you hit in the right spot, at the right time.

Under Florida law, had he killed the perps he would still be covered under the Stand Your Ground Statute:

776.012 Use of force in defense of person.-

A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other's imminent use of unlawful force. However, a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat if:

(1)He or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony
; or

(2)Under those circumstances permitted pursuant to s. 776.013.

History.-s. 13, ch. 74-383; s. 1188, ch. 97-102; s. 2, ch. 2005-27.

Thanks, Drug Warriors!

I only saw what looked like three clear gunshots, good have been more, but he hit both robbers. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Yeah, I know.

I don't think that two guys seen scrambling all over each other and running out the door really fits your criteria, and I'm a potential juror in this case.

Honestly though, even if I thought what this guy did was illegal I wouldn't advocate charges, since no one died and the end result was good. Robbers learned their lesson, no innocents hurt.

12 people died in Colorada. They're probably fuming that we all haven't turned in/destroyed out guns yet.

Some probably would think that I'm history's greatest monstertype going out shooting at the range Friday lol

Had that man not been armed, there would have been no shots fired and no innocent bystanders would have been at risk of being shot.
