And apparently doing a guest spot on Deadliest Catch

Lies. There was plenty of laundry drying, but at no point did we seeing it actually getting done.

For the first 30 seconds I thought it was for a remake of The Perfect Storm.

What a shiatty, shiatty teaser.

If they turn Superman into a dark, brooding hero...they deserve the POS that movie will be.

I too much prefer the "blast my way out of a volcano with my laser vision, even though the lava couldn't hurt me anyways" version of superman.

He's in Smallville... washing his tights! Hahahahahahahahaaa!

2012-07-22 09:20:01 AM
It's a teaser you dummies... Not a full trailer.

Also, the little touch of having TWO teasers, one being a message from Jonathan Kent and the other a message from Jor-El, tells me that the producers/writers/directors are being really thorough with the details about Superman's personality and indicates the movie is going down the right road so far.

Superman will have to chose being a Kryptonian God or being one of us. And these two teasers are foreshadowing that moral conflict.

Hey, someone has to do his laundry. Imagine trying to get the super shiat stains out of his underwear. What would you use? Battery acid

Putting it to the soundtrack of 'The Fellowship of the Ring' was kind of odd. Yes, everyone loves Gandalf and was sad when he fell, but why play his lament over a Superman trailer? Brought up some just bizarre imagery in my mind.

At least they didn't use the music from Dragonheart.

I want to do naughty, dirty, things to Henry Cavill. He makes my lady parts happy. I would watch him do pretty much anything...laundry included.

I was thinking some little ditties from Braveheart.

I saw a Superman trailer in the theater, and I wondered, "Superman leaves two contrails when he flies?" It was weird.

And I'm just tired of re-booted origin stories already. We just had a Superman movie not too long ago, and Spiderman's recent reboot wasn't even that good. I wish the studios would do the same thing they did with Ed Norton's version of "The Incredible Hulk" reboot and spend as little time as possible on where he came from, and just get on the story.

It will be a POS anyway. Superman is a crappy character.

Why the hell is Superman hitchhiking? Will he have to travel on foot to the North Pole to get his powers? Will Liam Neeson be playing the ghost of Jor-El?

Which is why you focus on the villain, not Superman. A Darkseid movie wouldn't sell well because he's not a familiar character, but slap 'Superman' on the title and make the movie about Darkseid...

Unfortunately I doubt Snyder has done anything as fun as that. Hopefully not another lame Lex Luthor movie, though.

Glad I'm not the only one. I don't really read comic books, could someone who does tell me when Superman became a commercial fisherman?

The part where he's flying up should be synched to "there goes my hero" by Foo Fighters". Then when Dave sings, "he's ordinary", they then pan to a spectacled Clark Kent. Need some rock, not some somber shiate.

There's no such thing as a "crappy character". There are only crappy writers. Batman was not well-respected by the general public before Batman Begins. I'm hoping The Man of Steel can do the same for Superman.

Any future Superman reboot should have, at most, an opening montage like Watchmen. Devoting the entire first act or more to Superman's origin is pointless. Everybody knows the story at this point.

Has there been any leaks about possible villains?

Superman's alter ego is TV David Banner?

I think the problem with Superman is in having a worthwhile villain. Batman has to out-think and out-plan his opponents. He only has his training and gadgets to rely on. Superman can just punch anybody really hard. He constantly has to be de-powered just to draw the stories out.

That trailer went from a Tommy Hilfiger commercial to Supes breaking the sound barrier.
It made no sense.

Well since it's pretty much the greatest teaser in the history of cinema, I'd say you couldn't be more wrong.

By the way, there were two versions of the teaser released. The other is voiced by Jor-El (Russell Crowe).

Superman broods sometimes .With characters with histories as long as superman they have dragged him all over the place.

The only thing worse than studios trying to put in new, unfitting elements into these types of movies is fans who think they can only be done in one way.

I don't know about anyone else but I want something different from the last film. You can complain about casting or the storyline but the real issue I had with the last superman film was that it felt like an homage to the classic superman films instead of its own movie.

I don't know, there's something about the end of that where he's flying...just the feel of it gets me excited. Like they finally might have figured out how to make a live-action Superman look dynamic doing amazing things.

Looks like it's going to be all dark and meeehhhh *waves arms *. That's the problem I had with the other one. Well, besides it being all baby-dady drama angsty.

I always thought they should go retro with it, Sky commander/Fleischer studio style.

Anypoop, it didn't look horrible. I just hope it's not going to be a depressing shiat fest. Oh. And superman needs to beat the crap out of very large robots. Why can't they figure that out?!

It looked more like a commercial for a washing powder.

Has anyone mentioned why Superman would have contrails chemtrails coming from his feet?

Until the ponderous narration started, I thought it was going to to be about the del Toro Pacific-monster-thing movie. But then... eh, whatever.

I do think the big problem with Supes is having a real threat (that is, not just Lex Luthor finding still more Kryptonite on Earth - because space is actually quite tiny, apparently) seems to defeat every attempt, so the only drama they can think of is the coming-of-age stuff. Sort of surprised they haven't just thrown in the towel and made the growing-up-alien into a hackneyed coming-out analogy, but I guess X-Men sort of grabbed that already. Still, if they can't get past the tiresome origin story reboots, I'm sure that'll happen soon enough.

Henry Cavill was great in the Tudors so it's nice to see him getting a prominent role. The good news is that this Superman movie can be nowhere near as bad as the last one

I'm surprised they don't just go ahead and do a two- or three-part Death and Return movie. At least it wouldn't be another real estate scheme, with the most powerful man on Earth fighting against the comic book equivalent of Donald Trump.
