Actually, the Cubs haven't been doing half bad since the AS break...until they ran into St. Louis, that is...

/All the better to extract maximum value for Dempster and Garza at the trade deadline, my dear...

The Mets. I'm positive it's the Mets.

Perhaps MLB should invoke the mercy rule like they have in Little League.

Someone told me that the Cubs logo, with the bear cub in front of the big capital "C", actually looks like a bear sitting on a toilet seat.

Now I can't see it any other way.

I thought Theo Einstein was supposed to turn the Cubs around.

Just noticed the headline.
Good job, subby.

Mark Ratner: I thought Theo Einstein was supposed to turn the Cubs around.

They will be quality in about 4 years. Baseball isn't a game where someone comes in and turns a team around in a year. The process, like the game, is slow.

Also don't forget tying a MLB record for 7 doubles in one inning.

If Cubs fans are anything like Browns fans, Epstein won't be there in four years. But then again, no team's fans should be like Browns fans.

Cleveland or St. Louis? If it's the latter, that wait might last until infinity.

/If you don't know what I'm talking about, Google "St. Louis Browns".

Heh. I'm talking about the extant Browns, not the current Orioles.

Cubs fans are used to losing. I doubt they'll notice a difference.

I'm a St. Louis hater to the core, but even I will give them props over this one.

I love when people rag on Epstein for the Cubs problems this year.

The guy just got there, it's not like he brought a time machine with Manny Ramirez and Big Papi with him.

Better to trade it away than to lose it to free agency after a losing season.

Yeah. Since Obama is a W.Sox fan, he isn't allowing Theo to use his.

Plus, the Cubs are one of the few teams that are completely out of the playoff running this year, so they can afford to bend some of the contenders over the barrel and push in deep for maximal value on their spare parts. And there is no telling if Dempster, Maholm, Marmol, or even Garza would be a part of the team by the time they field a competitive team in a few years.

Stll 5 games behind though. Nothing we can't handle unless it's still like that mid-September.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results."

Cubs fans greet every spring as the year that their misery will end but it never does..

So Cubs fans are all insane? I'm OK with that.
