No, I can't imagine that in a free country you can't wear what you like while attending a public event. How much hold do corporations have over our lives that they can dictate this kind of bullshiat? Even if he got "overruled" and you can wear what you like, the fact that this is even a topic of discussion shows mega corporations have too much farking power.

Pretty much true. Also you have to remember in certain sports, track comes to mind, the athletes have their own sponsors. So you have Adidas as an Olympic sponsors, but athletes with Nike, Asics and other sponsorships.

Even late night, and talk show hosts made fun of it.

I don't think they'll ever regain all the viewers that just lost all interest at that point, and never bothered watching it ever again.

Utah might be why it's a while before the US gets another Olympics. They have all these facilities, like the bobsled/luge/skeleton track, but where as in Europe a kid can get their parents to by them a luge or skeleton sled and go to the local track and just slide for fun, there is no such thing at the SLC facilities. Besides hobbling the United States as far as competition, not having it open for just recreational use, is going to irk the IOC. And then there's how the US treats the Paralympics. Which is actually a bigger issue.

I've lost much interest in the televised Olympics since they started focusing only on the top talent and began systematically ignoring the participants from little countries who came only to compete. When I was a kid, simply getting there was the prize. Seeing how many tried made the medalists even more respected. Now, those not in contention are just ignored. Sad.
