Or her decision to open the door while he was still in there, and set off the explosion could have saved 12 lives.

Just sayin'

He was already in custody at that point. Dumbass.

Presumably if he was smart enough to set up viable booby traps, he was smart enough to not set anything up to go off before he left.

FTFY.

Anyway, I read earlier that the music in question that was blaring was techno. So obviously the media is going to call for a ban on electronic music.

Why was she checking to see if she could open the door?

So she could go in and turn off the music since he apparently wasn't there?

funny how if I wanted to buy tens of thousands rounds of ammo. numerous assault weapons, gas grenades, body armor etc it wouldn't throw up a red flag to the govt.
but if I want to buy over 30 tablets of asthma medicine at a time it's impossible. and I have to show i.d., it comes from behind the pharmacists counter and I have to sign for it.

thanks NRA and GOP for keeping us safe.

If only he had tried to bring nail clippers or a bottle of water onto an airplane, he might have been stopped.

You can't just say stuff like "thousands of rounds of ammo".

Normal people who use guns legally will go through thousands of rounds of ammo eventually. They may buy a lot at once if they find a deal.

Not a big deal.

The music stopped about 1 a.m. But within two hours, a SWAT team had kicked down the back door of the building and was banging on residents' doors, telling them to get out as soon as possible

calling the building's super would be too much work

Why does the government need to be shown a red flag for what is currently normal activity? The US is more armed than the Chinese, Indian (call center people) and Russian armies combined. Hoarding meth making tabs is much more suspicious and obvious of illegal activity.

I'm guessing here:

I think he wanted to destroy any evidence in his apartment, but I wonder if his larger plan was to create one hell of a diversion just before the pre-planned time he was going to open fire at the theater. Sounds like he wanted every cop, firefighter and EMT to be at one location, unable to respond quickly to what he was planning at the theater.

And you want to live under the rules of those countries? Ask them about their quality of life and if most of them wouldn't trade places with you.

Ya don't need to ban it,just live in a city with noise ordinances. Where I live it's like from before 9am and after 9pm if you're a noisy dick you're getting a fine.

Fonzi and her boyfriend have been staying with relatives since being evacuated. "We were considering moving prior to this, so maybe this is the push that we needed," she said.

Oh c'mon, what are the chances the next neighbor will be another homicidal maniac?

Dick Van Dyke would have entered the premises and tripped over the bomb.

Our quality of life isn't due to that fact that millions of frightened paranoid wankers "need" to keep an arsenal at home.

The only thing I don't understand about any of this.. Why do you think he told the police his place was rigged like this? Believe me, I'm glad he did because no one else needed to die but I did find myself wondering why he decided to spill the beans.. Last minute change of heart?

There is some truth in this.

Want to buy a 50 pound bag of ammonium nitrate to fertilize your garden? Show some ID and sign your name on the dotted line because you just might be the next Timothy McVeigh.

Want to withdraw $10,000 or more from your bank account one day? Sure, go ahead, but your bank will report it to the government under the Bank Secrecy Act because you just might be in the Mafia or an Al Queda supporter.

Not to mention all of the TSA checks to buy a ticket and get on a plane.

Has there been any confirmation on which song was playing? All I've read so far is that it was a "techno" song and that it was set on repeat.

If I had to venture an uninformed guess, it would be "Bangarang" by Skrillex. Just based off of recent popularity, the associated gunophile video, and the shooter's apparent dickishness. That shiat's annoying.

Yeah, yeah, dubstep vs techno comparisons, blah, blah, blah....

I agree 100% with you and I believe that if Aurora was a right to carry town we wouldn't be having a discussion about twelve innocent lives lost. Granted, not every spree shooter booby traps his apartment either. Nonetheless, if more citizens were given the right to carry, the less incidents like this will happen.

Besides, the "Obama's gonna take your guns!!!" whargarble in the past few years has caused massive buying and stockpiling of ammo. Who would notice one lunatic buying up bunches of ammo amongst all the others in the Derp Brigade?.

Ammo numbering in the thousands isn't going to do you much good unless you have a sophisticated machine gun and a couple of guys to help you carry the boxes.
