While praising these brave men and women in public, privately a majority of Republicans support cutting federal government for first responders.

And now you know how soldiers feel. Oh, we fund the shiat out of your operations and praise you when it suits us, but we don't actually give a sh*t about you.

The GOP had the audacity to use veteran's benefits as a hostage in a debate to help rich people pay less taxes...all while still waving that flag and telling liberals like myself that I "don't support the troops."

Now that a Democrat has basically stolen the "tough on terror" plank from the GOP platform, it's my hope that more people will see the GOP's repulsive pimping of the America soldier for what it really is - cheap propaganda.

If you are an American soldier and you vote Republican for any reason other than to protect the 65 million a rich uncle just willed to you, you need your head examined.

one of the downsides to living in an 'always on' 24/7 media culture - someone will have a blog post up about it and will be working it into their political ideology before the bodies are even cold.

shiat, we're all rank amateurs compared to the likes of Malken and the other 'professional' bloggers. I just don't have the time or ability to be opinionated to that level.

I gotta say, I agree with the orange-colored fellow. I mean, do you really need all those policemen? In a case like this, rather than rely on a government funded agency to show up and save you, shouldn't all good citizens exercise their god-given Second Amendment rights and pull their concealed-carry weapons from the holsters attached to their bootstraps and take care of the problem themselves? Nurses and doctors? Pffft. Just socialism if you ask me. Take a few first aid courses and learn how to do that shiat for yourself. Why do you stupid libs insist on making other people do the work?

Like the fires in Texas and cutting the funding from firefighters, we can just pray disaster away!

When God see's it fit to let us suffer or die, it's not to be questioned. It's both part of his plan and not his fault. (besides, it's not in our place to put blame on God for worldly events, that's blaspheme). You can scream and cry and ask why, but never blame.

When ever anything good ever happens, thank God. Because it's all him. Even if you can clearly see it was acts of men making the good happen... that's just God working through them.

Duh.

You know nothing about magical sky people do you?

*Sigh* Another one of these stories, eh? Republican says the federal government shouldn't pay for something that can be handled at a state level and we get the predictable response. Brings this to mind:

"Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of state education. Then the socialists say that we are opposed to any education. We object to a state religion. Then the socialists say that we want no religion at all. We object to a state-enforced equality. Then they say that we are against equality. And so on, and so on. It is as if the socialists were to accuse us of not wanting persons to eat because we do not want the state to raise grain."

The GOP pay lip service to the troops but when the GOP send them into harm's way based on a lie without an exit strategy, privatize their duties using mercenaries being paid triple what the troops are getting, vote against 7 bills designed to help returning Vets find work and housing, boo an openly gay soldier serving his country, vote against any kind of bonus to help military families (a third of which are on food stamps), etc etc you do have to rather question their sincerity.

The moviegoers didn't have any guns on them to foil the killer, and there weren't any nurses, doctors, or EMTs in the crowd to help the wounded?

Instead of depending on the government to help, they should have pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and taken care of the situation themselves.

Ugh I actually agree with turtle and boner. States and cities need to raise their taxes to cover their own local services and not depend on the rest of us.
