Or, in the case of one wrestler, erasing history.

Yeah and that's a shame, too. I also doubt we'll ever see Macho Man in the Hall of Fame, either.

And the funny thing is, he is guilty of the very things he suspends or fires people for.

Any true wrestling fan seeks out indy shows. All the pyro, lights and music cannot make up for a bad match. As long as they follow the seven deadly steps, it's not going to get any better.

So much this. WWE has turned into a 2-hour commerical advertising the newest video game and action figure, with wrestling matches sporadically thrown in.

Shouldn't this be in the sports tab?

Owen or Benoit?

"I have a unique ability to listen to myself as I'm talking." = "I like the sound of my own voice."

"Once you make a decision, you go with it, and everyone gets behind it." = "My way or the highway."

"I've got medals dripping off my chest. When I wake up in the morning, they're all gone." = "I always need to show everyone who is boss each day."

"I don't like to sleep. I'm missing something when I'm sleeping." = "I have an innate need to be in control."

"If they give me a boilerplate answer, I look at them and I say, 'That's a boilerplate answer. It's not what I'm looking for.'" = "Tell me what I want to hear."

"Strike two is if they can't change-if they can't look at it as the first day on the job." = "If you don't do what I want, the door's right over there."

Benoit obviously. WWE would love to do more to honor his memory, but his wife is so bitter and angry at the business (perhaps rightfully so, but perhaps not) that she no longer wants his name associated with it in any way. Thankfully she's gotten laughed out of court every time she's tried to stop them from using footage with his name on it, so at least we still get something, but they make it such a hassle that they don't include him in much. Everyone else in the family would love to see Owen's legacy and memories live on, but since the wife controls the estate, she calls the shots.

Back in the day when wrestling was coming out of Minnesota with the AWA (See the roots for: Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, and Jesse Ventura) had some family *cough* in the business that ran the show. Wrestling was played every Saturday or Sunday morning by local affiliates. One of these family members told the story of how he called Vince McMahon a cocksucker to his daughter, Stephani McMahon, while on Vince's private jet because he would go into the station managers office with a briefcase full of cash to play WWF instead of WWA.

The next best story I heard was the one about Hulk Hogan crying in a hotel hallways because he said he couldn't hack it.

What I have heard, and I don't know if this is true or not, but I have heard that McMahon would pay top AWA starts to no-show their cards

I certainly wouldn't doubt it. From everything I've seen he's an unscrupulous character.

I wonder how much my 1990 WWF Jake the Snake trading card would be worth these days.

Maybe a dollar.

ebay has a couple selling for $3.49, but I'm guessing they're only still on there because no one's going to pay such an inflated price.

I seriously you were talking about Benoit's wife until you mentioned Owen at the end. That was slightly confusing.

Well at least Vince is honoring her wishes instead of being a dick, and doing it anyway (like he would have done, otherwise)

Indeed, considering that Nancy Benoit is unable to voice her opinions on anything to anyone unless
they're using a ouija board.
