So to be a "mom" is to practice bigotry and hate towards those not like yourself and to try to instill these beliefs in your children. Interesting concept. Who else had these theories about how to raise children?

Isn't that usually the true raison d'etre for these organizations?

To sell stupid people stupid shiat.

I don;t care if you are gay, straight, white, black, fat, thin, famous, unknown, American or otherwise, Republican, Democrat, liberal, conservative, Christian, atheist, muslim, jewish, or whatever. You are a human being and that is reason enough for me to love you as my brother or sister. I love you.

What is it with right-wingers looking like this? Is it hard not to look like you have to register with the state wherever you live?

I for one will go out of my way to watch this show, even if it's typical NBC crap, just to spite these narrow minded, ignorant harpies.

Signed,

They have every right to watch or not watch whatever they please. Thankfully we also have the right to call them out on their intolerance, bigotry and poor fitting jeans.

It all balances out in the end.

I have no problem with gays on tv shows. But it seems like pandering, every show has a token one, and every joke or storyline has to be about them being gay. There are many gay people that live normal lives and do everyday things, try making a show about that.

NBC is using public airwaves to continue to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage. These things are harmful to our society, and this program is damaging to our culture.

For once, I wish these groups would explain how society is harmed. For all their soapbox bible-thumping, these groups never seem to elaborate on that part.

GladGirl: An aside: What is it about book clubs that lends itself to cheap wine? I'm in a slightly douchey situation, I admit, where I only will drink mid-range or better wine (generally $15-$20 or higher, not that price is entirely correlated with quality, of course). So I end up bringing a nice bottle to book club, while all my compatriots show up with their $7 Barefoot of Bogle bottles. So I spend the whole time trying to hoard my wine, strategically placing it in the back of all the terrible bottles, so that I don't end up having to drink the swill that other people bring. Conversely, I've noticed the fellow moms I hang out with on baby playdates tend to show up with pretty nice bottles.

Cause most don't know good wine, so just buy something that looks good an is inexpensive.

It seems to me like Leviticus is like one of those lists of obscure laws that are still on the books even though they have no significance in modern-day life (like "It is illegal to walk a duck down Main Street on a Tuesday").

You know, the laws you only enforce when you want to harrass someone.

It isn't a reality show, it is a sit-com.

Yeah, I don't like sit-coms either but at least they don't make me weep for humanity like reality shows.

BEGIN THREADJACK

Right now, the only TV in the house is used by my wife exclusively as a computer monitor. I dropped cable when I lost my job a couple of years back and never missed it.

Now, I'm not saying I'm BETTER than people who waste a lot of time watching TV-- I waste a lot of time on equally useless things like FARK, listening to music, reading trashy sci-fi novels, and even watching streaming video on Hulu+ and Netflix.

I would also LOVE to have BBC, Al-Jazeera English, and the NASA channel but there is no farking way I'm going to shell out a bunch of money each month for a cable or dish subscription just for those channels. Too bad the internet streaming quality on those channels are so bad. You can't get Al-Jazeera on ANY pay service in the U.S. because... Well... Baby Jesus vs. terrorism. Or some equally stupid reason.

As it so happens, those channels are available on FTA satellite If I ever get far enough ahead to be able to comfortably drop several hundred on a FTA dish and box for my PC I'll probably do that.

I probably also should have an antenna set up for major news events and severe weather.

Bingo! Right wing media is largely based on separating fools from their money: gold, overpriced computers bought on credit, Christian crap, etc.
