Engineers spent a number of hours discussing how to lift the boats off the rocks

Um, I'm no engineer, but... maybe wait for the tide?

and decided to wait till high tide to float them back to the harbour.

Ah. How much did they get paid for that insightful consult? Because I'd have told them for free.

It said the the engine failed on the RIB, but it clearly has two engines. Sounds like something far more embarrassing : maybe they ran out of fuel.

Engineers spent a number of hours discussing how to lift the boats off the rocks and decided to wait till high tide to float them back to the harbour.

So in England you just decide to call yourself an engineer and you're an engineer?

/what a country!

conducting a training exercise when the engine cut out leaving them helplessly drifting near the rocky shore in Aberdeen Bay.

I'm no expert on boating, but wouldn't an anchor prevent the boat from drifting into the rocks? Do most small boats not have anchors? Would an anchor even matter in a strong tide?

Is it? I guess it is, judging by the boats in the background, but I thought there was another series with yet another crane truck to pull out the green one.

Many years agone I used to work at a summer camp. Took a group out for a canoe trip and one fell way behind. A fellow staffer and I paddled in and grabbed the power boat to go out and get the kids. We get to them and circle around. One of the kids reaches for our boat and flips his canoe.

We pull the kids out of the water and flip the canoe back, drain all the water out and get the kids back into the canoe, we then tie of a nice long tow rope and prepare to head back in. After about 5 mins it's apparent our engine is knackered. So we get the kids into our boat, swing the canoe around the front and use that canoe to tow our own boat back to the camp.
