Damn, it would be horrible to be living in that guy's apartment. Imagine fapping to questionable porn only to be disturbed by a bunch of SWAT and bomb disposal guys in mid orgasm!

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but I just signed back up for TF, and, uh.. well, that hooker isn't STD-free anymore.

It just takes one asshole to ruin a good thing. Thanks, BurnShrike.

eyewitnesses are extremely unreliable. Mostly sounds like one shooter.

I watched the reporter interview the two high school students on live webcast. They were very cool, calm, and collected. They are the kind of witnesses that defense attorneys fear.

How does one take part in Lycanthropy? Is there some secret passage under a forge somewhere that you can go and drink werewolf blood?
And wouldn't taking part in lycanthropy actualy be a good thing if it keeps you from taking part in vampirism by making you resistant to the disease that causes it? I mean if you become a werewolf in order to not become a vampire, you'd think the two would at least cancel out.

Endive Wombat: HotWingConspiracy: I sincerely hope the NRA lobbies for a bill requiring theater ushers to be armed, it's the only logical response to this.

The Brady Bunch will be calling for metal detectors and pat downs at theaters now. I can guarantee that the theater has a "no weapons" policy and signage...so if this place was a "gun free zone" how is it that he was able to get guns in there? He violated the rule? Whaaattt???

I checked their site to see if any of the middle aged frumpy women running it are awake yet. Nope. They do however have a petition up.

I believe that dangerous people should not have guns.

I will not vote for, or support, any candidate for elected office who will not sign the following "Statement Of Principle Against Arming Dangerous People": I believe that these people should not be able to buy, own, or carry a gun anywhere in our nation:

• Convicted felons
• Convicted domestic abusers
• Terrorists
• People found to be dangerously mentally ill

They don't even know these types of people are already barred from firearms, and there is enforcement of the law with the NCIS database...............the legation which they cosponsored with the NRA.

I would assume the 3 month old was there because they couldn't get a babysitter, didn't want to just leave the kid at home and the kid was a heavy sleeper.

Really though: IT DOESNT MATTER WHY THE KID WAS THERE. THE KID AND ITS PARENTS ARE THE VICTIMS.

Because they sleep a LOT and are highly portable. If the baby wakes up, you feed it, and it will probably go back to sleep. If the baby cries, bad luck, you leave the theater.

Close2TheEdge: Wait, I'm confused, There are lots of preachers out there that rail against violent movies, especially ones that appeal to mass audiences and kids. They often don't make a direct connection between the violence depicted on screen, and the violent acts committed by people. They save that equation for violent video games. Rather, they like to point to violent movies as a "coarsening" of society, and a breakdown of morals. And, they draw a connection to Hollywood, which according to them, is unabashedly liberal. Their solution is of course, get America back closer to God and Jesus Christ.

Why is this such a bizarre observation to you?

unless they do something wacky in protest, it doesn't get national news attention (which was the implication here) because it's a hypocritical and nonsensical fringe argument to make.

One of my wife's friends is a yoga instructor...she is a bit out there. I am just confused if they are against all the "spiritual silliness" that comes with yoga (which I am sure is the case) or if they are against the act of flexibility and strength training...wonder if they have Christian Yoga?...something renamed like "Christ centered meditation and strength training"

FinFangFark: Just wow...well talk radio has their topic for the day.

I'll settle this for all of you. Some parents really want to see a movie, but they can't get a sitter that late, and they assume the kid is going to sleep through it anyway.

It's nothing new. When I was in college, I remember seeing a father taking a kid who couldn't have been older than 5 to a late night screening of Hannibal. That kid will probably shoot a theater up in about ten years.

It's bad parenting and it's farking annoying, but it happens.

I hope that clears things up.

So, how long before the media and press start blaming the movie itself (or the genre in general) for the attack? I think it had fark-all to do with the gunman's motive; he probably just needed a venue where a lot of people would be present. But still, you know our outstanding media groups and press out there; they'll find a way to make the movie the reason for this nutbag's rampage.

This.

I haven't looked at the details too far yet, but so far it sounds like a single shooter.

Probably just a nut case like almost all these cases are.

Still, I'm surprised that Al Qaeda or its affiliates hasn't tried attacks like this. They are easy to plan, the materials can be bought without arising suspicion, and as you can see, they grab headlines.

No, that will be theater owners doing it to say they have a safe establishment.

I can guarantee that the theater has a "no weapons" policy and signage...so if this place was a "gun free zone" how is it that he was able to get guns in there? He violated the rule? Whaaattt??

I don't think you really understand the utility of policy and gun free zone designations. I'll give you a small hint though - nobody thinks they magically keep weapons away.

That's strawman idiocy pushed by the people that think guns make us safer.

We know nothing about the gunman's motive. Too early to come to a conclusion either way. It might have had something to do with the movie, or not.

Isn't "we don't need no trial, just kill the bastards" the typical byline of the domestic terrorist?

All we need is for italie here to believe the guilty parties are currently gathering at a movie theater to see the Batman Premiere and we're all set.

Aurora, CO hardly sounds like an enclave of the wealthy. Most are describing it as a mall in a heavily minority area.

He should have taken out a movie theater in Aspen if that was his motive.

Are you kidding? The Internet virtually ASSURES that it will get national news attention. All it has to do is get picked up by a blogger, and eventually it finds it's way into the public consciousness. It's the one thing I hate most about the Net. Stupid, marginal viewpoints end up getting way more attention than they deserve.

Not to get into a fight about it, but I think you're missing the obvious alternative, "not going", which really carries no significant or life-altering drawbacks.

Having a kid doesn't mean giving up your life, but I don't think people are being unreasonable to assume that it involves some minor sacrifices, like not going to a movie at midnight.
