I had a girl try to give me a Saskatchewan Roughrider once, but I wasn't having it.
It seem too perverse even for me.
Disturbing almost.

I think I have decided not to watch games at McMahon anymore. Not because it isn't fun but over the years I have seen probably 10 games with the Riders there at least and not once have they won them!

Perhaps, and this will pain me greatly... It was a really good game!

Wish I'd been able to watch it instead of having to drive all day yesterday, would have been nice to see some effective offense.

The TSN commentators have been going on about the defensive play int he games I've seen, but mostly what I'ev been watching is horrible overthrows and blown routes. Part of that is all the new QBs / offences (the Riders have an advantage here, with their offence not totally gutted and redone like...well, everyone else except the Lions and Als), but part of it is just terrible offensive play.

Wish I could say that I was looking forward to watching the Eskies play the Lions tonight, but....I don't think that BC is going to let Edmonton's special teams put 28 points on the board. A QB combo of Jyles and Joseph is making this lifelong Eskies fan have a very grim view of the season.

Yup, we don't need to be more popular than the NFL, we just need to be better than baseball and NASCAR.

Oh, and I HATE the overtime rules. It is as contrived as the NHL's shootout.

I actually like them, granted had it been sudden death the Riders would have won, but being in the stands it is an exciting way to end a game.

Man, you should get the rarely-seen Ottawa Rough Rider. It's epic.

I love my Stamps. Proud of the boys, although this is a hard year. But, I'd like to clarify a few things for our American friends: the following logo is not for a Ford Mustang:

Now granted, I am a Rider fan and as such am extraordinarily biased but check out the games they are going to show on the NBC Sports network...

Here is a full schedule of the games being shown on the NBC Sports Network:
Monday, August 27
7:30pm: Edmonton vs. Toronto

Friday, August 31
7:30pm: BC vs. Montreal

Monday, September 3
1:00pm: Toronto vs. Hamilton
4:30pm - Edmonton vs. Calgary

Friday, September 7
9:00pm: Calgary vs. Edmonton

Friday, October 5
9:00pm: Hamilton vs. Edmonton

Friday, October 19
10:00pm - Edmonton vs. BC

Thursday, November 1
7:30pm: Hamilton vs. Toronto

Friday, November 2
9:00pm: Calgary vs. Edmonton

Sunday, November 11
Division Semi-finals

Sunday, November 11
Division Semi-finals

Sunday, November 18
Division Finals

Sunday, November 25
Grey Cup Championship: 6:00pm

So that means Edmonton gets 6 games, Toronto, Calgary, and Hamilton 3, BC 2, and Montreal 1. Winnipeg and Saskatchewan get 0 shown.

Now I am confident the Riders will be in the playoffs but seriously if you want to market the atmosphere in the CFL you aren't going to find any crowd more amped than at a Rider game.

To say they screwed up in that case is in my mind an understatement!

I'd take CFL over baseball too. I'm trying to find where to watch the BC Lions game tonight and the only local sports I am finding is the Mariners. Ugh...who cares.

Totally agree with you, not really sure what decided the matchups but Rider nation is an exceptional illustration of the fan interest in the game.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder...do you think this could be accessed by the browser in the PS3? I supposed I could HDMI out of the laptop into the TV but I only have the one HDMI cable. I'd rather not watch on my laptop. I sound lazy.

I never watched any CFL games until last season, but I gotta say that I really like it. I'm not going to stop watching the NFL or anything, but it's nice to see something a bit different. Still don't get all the rule differences, but I'll pick that up as I watch more and more games.

So let me get this straight. They start broadcasting the second half of the CFL season at the same time the NCAA and NFL seasons are getting up and running?

I missed tonights game. Was BC that bad or are the Eskimos actually good now?

A little bit of both. I've seen BC play a lot better this year but Edmonton actually looked competent out there. I thought for sure they'd be last in the West this year.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see a home playoff game in any of the Western Division cities. Calgary and Saskatchewan are good teams, and Edmonton has some flaws but has a killer defense and underrated on offense.

Winnipeg last year had a good record because a lot of teams were in rebuild - they are in rough shape. Not sure what to make of Montreal, but I think Hamilton will have a tough time against the West.

Some good posts in here... We should try to get a weekly CFL thread going. Think of it as a weekly way to ridicule Winnipeg.
