I picked up a Captain Canuck somewhere when I was a kid, (Northern MN) Iiked it enough, but never saw another issue.

Anyways, for a preview of what this movie might look like, read the first story in the link. Don't let the Tim Burr pen name fool you, it's written and drawn by the quite insane Fletcher Hanks

There are some potentially NSFW images, specifically WW2 comic-book stye racist stuff on the cover.

Arne Olsen who is an American Film Institute graduate and PRAXIS mentor, has had 12 movies produced including MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS:THE MOVIE for 20TH Century Fox, COP AND A HALF for Universal, ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN II for MGM and RED SCORPION for Shapiro/Glickenhaus. He sold the pitch RAPID FIRE to Universal and the spec horror-comedy DRAKE DIAMOND:EXORCIST FOR HIRE to Warners. He wrote and directed HERE'S TO LIFE, which was nominated for 9 Genies, winning one. He wrote the pilot ESCAPE FROM ATLANTIS for Starz/Encore as well as an episode of RELIC HUNTER. In 2011, he was nominated for a best screenplay LEO for the TIFF special presentation, REPEATERS, directed by Carl Bessai.

Quite the impressive resume there.

As a Canadian, and fan of Captain Canuck... This is farking stupid. It's an obvious rip off of Cpt America and simply won't be taken seriously in the international box office. All it's going to do is make the idea of a Canadian super hero even more ridiculous than it already is.

I'd rather see an Alpha Flight movie. At least you could tie in a cameo from Wolverine.

Seriously, though, I'd like the US and Canada to come to some sort of treaty on which two fictional characters get mentioned online when the countries are brought up. For Canada, it'd probably be Bob and Doug. I'm not sure who it'd be for the US, but as an American, I'd feel cheated if one of the two characters wasn't Jeff Spicoli.

not the same at all. on the surface, yeah, but that's as different as Captain America and Captain Britain. All three Captains stand for something different. Captain Britain stands for all that damn history and monarchy and when Britannica ruled this shiat. Captain American stands for the little guy nobody paid attention to who gets a growth spurt and is suddenly Big Man on Campus when everyone else gets effed up in the fight. And Captain Canuck.................. well....

And the Greatest Canadian Villain of them all (no, not US Guy)--the Mad Trapper of Mouse River.

The Clerk at the Hudson's Bay Store had a thick Scottish brogue and when he told the Mad Trapper that there was a big demand for Moose, MT naturally assumed he meant Meece. He went insane stretching their tiny hides on stretching frames made of their own tiny bones.

As a result he produced a string of parking violations as long as your arm, making him Public Enemy Numéro Un in the Appabathka Territory, home to the Lisping Tribe of Cree Indians.

Oh, and he kept trying to destroy the world. But that wasn't in the jurisdiction of the RCMP contingent in Wolverine Lake, so Captain Canuck had to deal with those infractions agaiinst the peace, order and good government of Canada.

If you need Canadian History Vignettes, Brantgoose is your man. I can make them up on the spot "to go" or you can order them for delivery.

I also do Canadian Wildlife moments:

The Loon, or Great Northern Diver as some call him, has a weird, haunting call ... It is considered Canada's answer to the cry of the Indian Peacock, the kind of bird song that begs for the merciful blow of a shovel to the head, not unlike the cheerful racket of a Parliament of Starlings at 4.35 a.m.

The Loon is the provincial bird of Ontario and was placed on the brass penny to remind Canadians of how much we all hate Ontario.
