Marine1: This far into the thread and no mention of Canada's greatest heroes?

[4.bp.blogspot.com image 850x653]

Seriously, though, I'd like the US and Canada to come to some sort of treaty on which two fictional characters get mentioned online when the countries are brought up. For Canada, it'd probably be Bob and Doug. I'm not sure who it'd be for the US, but as an American, I'd feel cheated if one of the two characters wasn't Jeff Spicoli.

If you watch "Strange Brew" you'll see the dog is a super hero.

What about Albertan Superhero Zap Rowsdower and his trusty sidekick Troy!?

Who else will battle an army of evil Acadian robots on Cape Breton or a band of zombie fur trappers in Medicine Hat?

Oh, Canada, you are adorable. Keep on thinking that.

/one of Superman's co-creators was Canadian born but US raised. He had dual citizenship. The other one was American.

metropolis was inspired by toronto and the daily planet inspired by a toronto newspaper called the daily star

Superman was designed by a Canadian, Wolverine is a Canadian, Captain Canuck is a terrible idea, Marvel should make an Alpha Flight movie so Guardian can be on the big screen, Also Sasquatch but only if it is based on the original comics, they have destroyed Alpha Flight recently. Also I love how someone mentioned it was a stupid premise for a superhero, it was literally the same premise they designed Captain America around you moron.

Smallville was also filmed in British Columbia
And also the people who played Lois Lane, Lana Lang, "James" Jimmy Olsen are Canadian too

not the same at all. on the surface, yeah, but that's as different as Captain America and Captain Britain. All three Captains stand for something different. Captain Britain stands for all that damn history and monarchy and when Britannica ruled this shiat. Captain American stands for the little guy nobody paid attention to who gets a growth spurt and is suddenly Big Man on Campus when everyone else gets effed up in the fight. And Captain Canuck.................. well....

what is the Canadian national identity? How do Canadians see themselves? Captain Canuck is like the Lifeline

to Britain and America's Duke and Joe. They're all heroes, but they're not the same type of hero. you know?

Americans ain't going to watch it anyway. Hell, no one outside of Canada is going to care.

The name, I'm sorry to say, will just seem to the U.S. as sorta silly. We're used to Captain America, Captain Britain (IIRC) and such, y'know, more formal titles.

Not sure the majority of Canadians will care anyway, save for this film being a potential gold mine for even more of our trademark self-deprecating humor/humour.

Ha, true, it's what I like about y'all in the first place. When Canadians get all serious about nationalism it's weird to me, so I hope this movie doesn't take itself seriously. Anyways, Canada has Wolverine and he's a certified bad ass and people around the world actually know and like him.

But who would play Bald Dwarf in the live action version? Would Billy the Bionic Badger be CGI?

And the Greatest Canadian Villain of them all (no, not US Guy)--the Mad Trapper of Mouse River.

The Clerk at the Hudson's Bay Store had a thick Scottish brogue and when he told the Mad Trapper that there was a big demand for Moose, MT naturally assumed he meant Meece. He went insane stretching their tiny hides on stretching frames made of their own tiny bones.

As a result he produced a string of parking violations as long as your arm, making him Public Enemy Numéro Un in the Appabathka Territory, home to the Lisping Tribe of Cree Indians.

Oh, and he kept trying to destroy the world. But that wasn't in the jurisdiction of the RCMP contingent in Wolverine Lake, so Captain Canuck had to deal with those infractions agaiinst the peace, order and good government of Canada.

If you need Canadian History Vignettes, Brantgoose is your man. I can make them up on the spot "to go" or you can order them for delivery.

I also do Canadian Wildlife moments:

The Loon, or Great Northern Diver as some call him, has a weird, haunting call ... It is considered Canada's answer to the cry of the Indian Peacock, the kind of bird song that begs for the merciful blow of a shovel to the head, not unlike the cheerful racket of a Parliament of Starlings at 4.35 a.m.

The Loon is the provincial bird of Ontario and was placed on the brass penny to remind Canadians of how much we all hate Ontario.
