He's made over $17 million since he was drafted in 1997. He's 33-years old, healthy, and should be fairly well off financially. He's making $1.25 million this year alone. He played big league ball for 12 full seasons. I'd guess there are a lot of people who would give their left nut to be in his shoes. Happy birthday, Rick.

He could have been a front of the rotation starter if he could have made it past the mental block he picked up in game one of the 2000 division series.

The sad part is that he could have had a decent enough career in the outfield if he'd started down that path initially. His age 27 and 28 years come out to about an .850 OPS which isn't bad at all considering how many years he lost to his pitching career.

Still, he managed to salvage a career and make about $9 million over the last 12 years which I really hope he squirreled away.
