Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, had warned Democrats before the vote that his party would want to amend the bill -- possibly with hot-button issues like repealing the health care reform law or extending the Bush-era tax cuts for all income levels.

this is why we can't have nice things.

In addition, Republican aides called attention to opposition by business groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers, who generally support Republicans.

also, as a general rule of thumb, if these two groups are against something, it's probably the right thing to do.

I know he'd never do it, but I'd love to see Obama just once, call these assholes out for the assholes they are. I don't mean vaguely insinuate the GOP has been obstructionist his whole term. I mean actually calling them assholes. Can you imagine the butthurt if Obama said, "You know what? Fark these asshole clowns. I'm trying to do good for this farking country, and these needle-dicked pussies are blocking everything because they want the country to fail just to fark me over. I hope they eat shiat and die."

Like I said, it'll never happen, but a girl can dream.

My guess would be all of them. I don't envy the man for the job he has. Sure the idea of being President is fun, but that's all that is fun - the idea of it. It's a grueling, arduous position that ages you exponentially. Add to that the bullshiat he's had to deal with from the Republitards, and I'm shocked he didn't pull and LBJ and refuse to run again.

[Obvious] tag busy standing in unemployment line.

I really, REALLY hope the GOP implodes after all these shenanigans.

I'd have way more respect for him at this point if he'd actually call this bullshiat out - they're never ever ever (ever) going to work with him, so he might as well.

FTFA: The bill fell four votes short of the 60 needed to bring it to debate, with 42 voting against it. Four GOP senators -- Scott Brown of Massachusetts, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine and Dean Heller of Nevada -- voted in favor of the bill.

Surprise, surprise. Probably the ONLY "sane" Republicans in...well..the f*cking WORLD.

RRRRRRRGH!!!! STOP DICKING AROUND WITH THE CITIZENS' WELL-BEING, YOU farkWADS!!!

FTFA: In a letter to senators this week, the Chamber of Commerce called the bill "misguided" and said it "would hamper American worldwide companies' competitiveness, increase complexity in the Internal Revenue Code, and threaten economic growth."

....

OK, I can believe claim #2, and I *might* be inclined to believe #1, but how the hell does making more jobs available in the US a "threat" to economic growth?

I'd really like to know. Don't just make a statement without backing it up with COLD, HARD FACTS.

But, of course, I know you won't. At the best, you guys will use circular logic.

2012-07-19 09:09:19 PM
Will the media take notice and make this a permanent sticky on their newscasts for a while?

Doubt it.

GOP will keep getting away with all out obstruction. I shouldn't say all out since they don't have impeachment on the table. Yet.

I am shocked, SHOCKED.

propasaurus: Tell me again about the Democratic majority in the Senate and how they can get anything they want passed because they have a majority.

I can't. Because they don't. This little thing call the filibuster is used all the time to prevent any legislation from getting passed, This is why this congress is one of the worst in the history of the nation in passing anything.

Opinion on this.

#10, I think, can be explained when it is understood that the House is responsible for the budget, and they keep wanting to do things like end Medicare and the like.

yeah i hear you. in that case though, it seems like it would mean incrementally more jobs, not moving jobs overseas, right? isn't the order taker usually the cashier also?

i think a lot of companies are shying away from outsourcing customer-interacting roles, but it's an interesting use-case. getting back to the original point, i don't see how taxing that would keep mcdonalds from expanding abroad.

The debates are comming, and whoever is president gets to figure out what to cut because of the sequester. I'm pretty sure Obama's gonna play with Romney like a chew toy. You really think Romney has a plan for how to properly defund the ENTIRE government by this much when he still can't seem to figure out if he was or was not CEO of Bane?

The "insourcing" tax credit doesn't make a whole lot of sense but the elimination of tax deductions for the costs of sending jobs overseas certainly does. You want to outsource, go for it, but why do you get a tax break for doing it?
