Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Quick question for smarter farkers than me, but looks like baby Pierogi has ring worm on his neck. How do I get rid of this?

since ringworm is a fungus, like athletes foot, you can use lotrimin on it. I've also heard folks dab vodka on the spot a few times a day to kill the bug. Both of course are useful in places where the kitty doesn't lick.

Me? I'd take the little Pierogi to the vet to verify it is ring worm and then go from there. They do a dip for them I believe, not sure if I remember right. Make sure YOU and yours wash up after handling the kitty till he is checked out and clean.

Good luck

Think I've solved Sam's dilemma:
I had to put Biofreeze on my neck and I think he might have come into contact with it.

CrankyAndi, I thought that was maybe the other Bob, Bob# who's young & still here.
Need an extra DB to keep all the Overlords & their staff straight.
But since you didn't mind seeing him again, glad I could oblige.

Speaking of his family, there are 2 begs from Helping Animals find Loving Owners, in Belleville IL, adoption begs for St Louis area. Msgs are a bit awkward to edit to bring in, but. There's one for brothers Guido (11 mos) & Rex (4.5 yrs) who'd obviously like to stay together. They look like some kind of pinscher, maybe. The other, Jaxton -- 9yr old, male Setter/heeler/St Bernard mix, in Troy Mo -- BIG doggie, 90 lb -- his mistress is terminally ill with cancer, was going to have him euthed but was talked out of it. I can fwd to msgs to whoever may have an interest in these 3. There are pix in the msgs.

I love seeing Bob. I don't mourn my pets who have passed, I celebrate their lives and how they touched my life. Bob came me to via my parents....they moved to a nursing home and I ended up adopting their dog and cat and never looked back. I miss them (dog, cat and parents) but I am too dang busy with 5 cats 2 dogs to dwell. They were loved, still loved and always will be. HI BOB!!!! say hi to all the kitties and doggies who have crossed over, you and Wraggs show them the ropes. I know you will.

i upped my meds-up yours: Hi again Caturdayers. Our 18yo Kitty Foyle could use some positive energy as she goes thru a Schrödinger-like period of uncertainty. What is presenting like pancreatitis (lethargy, anemia, won't eat, losing weight) may or may not be cancer, but the bone marrow profile is taking yoinks to come back from the lab. Meanwhile we are feeding icky glop thru a tube in her neck, trying to keep her comfy and reassured.

Here Kitty is awhile back, after deciding my new blue shorts really needed some cat hair.
[farm8.staticflickr.com image 800x600]

OMG, I'm going through the same thing with Diego. May/may not be cancer, definately has some pancreatitis going on. I'm not having to do the neck gloopy thing but he does get 2 meds BID and one pill every other day (appetite stimulant). He seems to rally for a couple of days, then back down, then rally, then down. He's had to have fluids at the vet's office twice though today he did want to drink in the shower (go fig, got a bowl of water in there for him now instead of licking the shower flood - weird cat). Same Sx too, some anemia, weight loss, lethargy.

domari: Sorry to hear about the kitties not doing well or have crossed over to the other side. Many old cats who have had a long life filled with love and good care.

It's been another crazy week in the land of Little Mews. Kitten season is slowing down. Not many newborns, now is the time for the spring kittens to need homes, and to be thrown away by ignorant morons who refuse to spay/neuter. Cats who had kittens in the spring are now pregnant with the next litter. Never ending cycle, every year. When will people ever learn?

This week we took in a young adult cat, found hanging around the county office building. She has a huge swollen area on it's head, so swollen it's eye appears sunken in. There's a hole on the side of her face too. The cat is thin, looks terrible, but very sweet and friendly, the employees felt sorry for her and wanted to help her but didn't know who to call.

The county we live in has no help for cats. The SPCA or county doesn't have a humane officer. Animal Control officers only pick up stray dogs. The employees called the police dept to see if they could help. Two officers showed up in two cars, one was a k9 cop. When the officers arrived around 8 county employees were outside and heard the officers say "Why don't you just kick it in the head?" and the K-9 unit "I ought to just let my dog loose and let him deal with it". The employees were shocked to hear that coming from police officers, especially the k9.

Obviously the officers offered no help, said they don't do cats. One of the employees who adopted a kitten from me last year suggested to call me, another employee did. Cretinbob happened to be nearby and picked up the cat and took her to the vet. She's on antibiotics and has to go back in a few days for check up. Not sure yet the reason for her injuries, but she's now safe and being cared for.

At first I was appalled to hear what the cops said to do to the cat. What they said was abusive, telling people to commit a crime against an animal is ...

I've seen a couple of wounds like that before, one was caused by a cat bite (though at first they thought it was a pellet gun). The other was the cat fell on something sharp, like a nail, just right and it went through the fleshy areas like that.

Hopefully the luvs and antibiotics will make her good as new :)

Thank you toLaulaja for the fabulous t-shirt and pin. I shall wear them to my first chior rehearsal for our re-opened St. James Church...

Eli left several protest poops throughout the down stairs and one in the bathroom. I think he was hoping to be let out when the cat sitter was here. Very unhappy that his crunchy feeder was empty, and his water bowl dry when I came in tonight. And how could they miss the poop? :( Time to get a new sitter?

Jeebus. What happened?? I couldn't get logged on to Fark for a day and a half! I was having withdrawls.

Good news:

Daughter got baptized today! I was so proud of her. She did so well considering she was afraid of getting water on/in her face. But we practiced with her, and there was another one before us, so she got to see one done. Yay Little Pie!

Bad News:

I'm afraid our eldest kitty, Bea, is going to be crossing the Rainbow Bridge soon. :o( She can't control her bladder or her bowels. Her breathing is labored. She doesn't walk right anymore; she limps like she has some pain in her hips. All she does is nibble at her food and goes back under the dining table. It's as if she just....exists. She's 15, so not really old. I can just feel something bad is coming. /sigh

/off to catch up on the thread.

My Friend

Today I had to say, "Fare thee well",
I heard your Heart as it fell.
Saw tears begin to well.

But oh, if I could once be granted speech,
To you I would beseech,

Mourn me if you will,
Remember me as I sat upon the sill,

Hold my Memory dear,
Yet do not Fear.

Let another know,
What it is to feel no woe.

To have scritches upon demand,
And soft, gentle Hand.

Give your Heart to Another,
Once your Sorrow no longer smother.

In this way you do me Honor.

And gives my Spirit,

Release

Mad at You

I am mad at you!
So I pooped in your shoe.

You left me here, no one home,
My only company, the phone.

Sure, the neighbors came,
Fed me.
It is Not the same.

I left a gift for you upstairs,
Hope it raises little hairs...
Remember shoes come in pairs?

My water bowl is dry.
I have to wonder why?

Did you REALLY think,
That I would drink,

From that porceline bowl? ( where you make a stink?)
How droll!

As for those crunchies, Dear,
You have seen me eat, and I fear,

Your memory is going.
I eat like I should be low-ing..

So, I am mad at you.

Maybe I will try the bed.

So tired of the cop dissing too. They do a more difficult job than most of the rest of us would ever dream of - get lied to constantly, called names and worse by people who think its ok because they "pay taxes," shot at and worse by punks and losers, and keep showing up every day to do it all again. Get little credit when situations go well, but all the blame when they don't, and for a relative pittance IMO.
