akimbotoo: Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Baby Pierogi is not ready for Caturday just yet. Still loving his new forever home.

He is so adorable! He looks like my Bengal named Zuma did when he was a young one. It looks like Pierogi even has the light spot behind the ear! Zuma is much darker now than he was 7 years ago.

Zuma is on the right and Charlie (his brother) is on the left. They were about 9 months old in this picture

He's half siamese and half lynx. I swear he's double in size since we got him two weeks ago. He's still full kitten though, not yet three months old. Loves playing with his ferret brothers and sisters, but momma cat hasn't completely warmed up to him yet. I think she still misses our old cat Lollipop who we unfortunately had to put to sleep three weeks ago. She had a softball size tumor in her chest which was was compressing against her lungs. But we were at least glad that it was a very fast acting tumor and she didn't suffer. But Pierogi is adorable a nice addition to the family.

Snuffybud: I decided to check in before my Totalfark runs out (thanks again Savarose)! It sure is nice to peruse this thread before it gets huge on Saturday morning!

Last time I was here we were mourning the loss of Spamcat while welcoming 3 new cats to the household. Snuffy and Sam, the older cats, really really didn't like the new cats. Desi, the 1 year old recently neutered male, was trying to hump everything. Jack and Cisco, the 5 month olds, had just gotten new names but really hadn't figured out the thing about grumpy older cats yet.

Desi basically spent 2-1/2 weeks in cat jail. I spent a day putting a screen door on one of the bedroom doors, that was the best $50 I've ever spent on cats. Everybody had to walk past his door to eat or poop, so everybody got a chance to sniff and not whack. We'd let Desi run free while the other cats were closed off into bedrooms, then we'd put Desi back into his room and let the little boys out.

Jack visiting Desi, who's in Cat Jail

We (Mrs. Snuffybud and me) spent a week on vacation worrying about our cats, and if we could ever get them all to live together. We had nothing to worry about as Nick (aka The Cat Whisperer) was here to watch over them. Without telling us he had Desi, Jack and Cisco running around together, all chasing the laser pointer. By the time we got back everybody was buddies. Tuesday night was the first night with everybody running free, today was the first workday with everybody loose (due to quirks in schedules Fridays are the only day nobody's home). Sam still hates the young ones, but he eats next to them every morning and even came upstairs last night. Snuffy is happy now that Desi isn't challenging him for the "King of All Cats" title, but he's still not thrilled. He still pokes at the kittens at times but it's never hard, just a raised paw to show who's in charge. Jack thinks Snuffy is the greatest cat in the wo ...

Zuma is a Seal Lynx Marble Bengal, so it sounds like that is the same as Pierogi. I didn't even know my guys were Bengals for several months after I brought them home. A friend came over to the house one time and remarked that they looked like Bengals (his sister has one). I looked up Bengals on the internet, and sure enough that is what the boys are. Zuma weighed about 6 pounds and Charlie weighed about 5 1/2 pounds when I brought them home at 4 months of age. Zuma always had a larger build and much larger paws. Now that they are 7 years old Zuma weighs about 14 or 15 pounds and Charlie is about 11 pounds.

I am so sorry about Lollipop, but it sounds like you took wonderful care to make sure that she didn't suffer. I bet momma cat will eventually warm up to the new guy in town. It just takes some cats longer than others. ;)

The wife knows more about cats than I do, but I'll bring up the Bengal part to her when she gets home from work. Waffles is the momma cat, and we've had her for about 7 years now. Not the most affectionate cat, but she is protective of Pierogi when the ferrets get a little bit rough with him. She's around 12 pounds and a DLH. This is Pierogi and Gnocchi, our oldest ferret enjoying snack time.

Kittehs is wonderful for that...Kali and Ashe were super-lovey both when SO was in hospital and when I've been recovering from hospital crud...they know when their humans are in distress and do try to make it better :3

As for the migrating toothache...you might want to see an ENT or a regular doctor to make sure you don't have an ear infecton or eustachian tube infection (seriously!)--sometimes a "wandering toothache", especially when there's nothing actually WRONG with the teeth, can actually be "referred pain" from the ears. (Yes, I've experienced this with blocked tubes before. It sucks. Usually a dead giveaway that the issue is in the ears rather than the teeth is that Anbesol doesn't do jack for it...)
