Sam's doing better, so I think it's just one of his teeth. He's getting an appointment to the vet tomorrow, just to make sure/ fix his tooth.
He's due for a cleaning.

Well, that was the weekend that was, wasn't it? I came home from the Dark Knight only to hear of the shooting. Plainly the best thing I could do was retreat halfway up a mountain and choke on frozen dust all night without food, warmth, light or sleep. When I came down the mountain again I looked like this:

Debby7813: CrankyAndi: Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Quick question for smarter farkers than me, but looks like baby Pierogi has ring worm on his neck. How do I get rid of this?

since ringworm is a fungus, like athletes foot, you can use lotrimin on it. I've also heard folks dab vodka on the spot a few times a day to kill the bug. Both of course are useful in places where the kitty doesn't lick.

Me? I'd take the little Pierogi to the vet to verify it is ring worm and then go from there. They do a dip for them I believe, not sure if I remember right. Make sure YOU and yours wash up after handling the kitty till he is checked out and clean.

Good luck

Ugh! Do not google ringworm & click on images! Well, maybe you should, but be prepared to see some icky stuff; it's mostly on people. That's the thing; ringworm can be passed to humans & back. Get thee to the vet, ASAP!

My sister contracted ringworm as a child from our dog (Springer Spaniel), Spot, so it definitely can be transmitted from animal to human.

Sickapie: Jeebus. What happened?? I couldn't get logged on to Fark for a day and a half! I was having withdrawls.

Good news:

Daughter got baptized today! I was so proud of her. She did so well considering she was afraid of getting water on/in her face. But we practiced with her, and there was another one before us, so she got to see one done. Yay Little Pie!

Bad News:

I'm afraid our eldest kitty, Bea, is going to be crossing the Rainbow Bridge soon. :o( She can't control her bladder or her bowels. Her breathing is labored. She doesn't walk right anymore; she limps like she has some pain in her hips. All she does is nibble at her food and goes back under the dining table. It's as if she just....exists. She's 15, so not really old. I can just feel something bad is coming. /sigh

/off to catch up on the thread.

Good job Little Pie ;-)

I'm sorry to hear about Bea. Sending lots of hugs.

The Ice Queen: i upped my meds-up yours: Hi again Caturdayers. Our 18yo Kitty Foyle could use some positive energy as she goes thru a Schrödinger-like period of uncertainty. What is presenting like pancreatitis (lethargy, anemia, won't eat, losing weight) may or may not be cancer, but the bone marrow profile is taking yoinks to come back from the lab. Meanwhile we are feeding icky glop thru a tube in her neck, trying to keep her comfy and reassured.

Here Kitty is awhile back, after deciding my new blue shorts really needed some cat hair.
[farm8.staticflickr.com image 800x600]

OMG, I'm going through the same thing with Diego. May/may not be cancer, definately has some pancreatitis going on. I'm not having to do the neck gloopy thing but he does get 2 meds BID and one pill every other day (appetite stimulant). He seems to rally for a couple of days, then back down, then rally, then down. He's had to have fluids at the vet's office twice though today he did want to drink in the shower (go fig, got a bowl of water in there for him now instead of licking the shower flood - weird cat). Same Sx too, some anemia, weight loss, lethargy.

Handsome kitty. Hope you get past this and he is his old cat self again.
Kitty F is starting to climb onto windowsills, poop in the box, and her fur's fluffing back out, so we are hopeful.

tigerose: Mad at You

I am mad at you!
So I pooped in your shoe.

You left me here, no one home,
My only company, the phone.

Sure, the neighbors came,
Fed me.
It is Not the same.

I left a gift for you upstairs,
Hope it raises little hairs...
Remember shoes come in pairs?

My water bowl is dry.
I have to wonder why?

Did you REALLY think,
That I would drink,

From that porceline bowl? ( where you make a stink?)
How droll!

As for those crunchies, Dear,
You have seen me eat, and I fear,

Your memory is going.
I eat like I should be low-ing..

So, I am mad at you.

Maybe I will try the bed.
'Nuff said!

No, but it seemed a better alternative than staying up all night watching every Farker, blogger, politician and talking head sperg. If I wasn't sleeping anyway, I decided I prefered the company of the stars.

And the tigers. Someone close by must have been keeping them. Hopefully in cages. Also, hopefully they were Siberian tigers; otherwise they'd've been miserable in an alpine climate. They certainly didn't -sound- happy, though that may have been the wolves keeping them awake all night.

It was still more pleasant than watching CNN.

Salem Witch: tooeasy: so i lost my cat thomas, about 4 months ago. He was about 6-7yo, far too young. he was a rescue animal, and when i adopted him he already had a brain tumor, but i didn't care ( i should've, would've saved heartache). anyway. now i've adopted two kittens, a boy and a girl. two questions: how do i upload pictures from camera phones? and, the male cat is 3 mos old and the female is 2 mos, and he really seems to bully her, how worried should i be?

I'm so sorry about Thomas. Good on you for giving a home to a sick Kitty.

What are your new masters names?

So tired of the cop dissing too. They do a more difficult job than most of the rest of us would ever dream of - get lied to constantly, called names and worse by people who think its ok because they "pay taxes," shot at and worse by punks and losers, and keep showing up every day to do it all again. Get little credit when situations go well, but all the blame when they don't, and for a relative pittance IMO.

Around here 'Hero' is not a strong enough word for the Aurora cops. They were there in less than 2 minutes and in a short amount of time there were over 200 first responders there. I've dealt the Aurora cops a lot (don't ask) and I've always said they are the best! I'd say that pretty much everyone agree's with me now.

There is no doubt that the changes from the lessons of Columbine made a huge difference. My brother is a DA (in another state) and I asked him to thank Bill Ritter (the Denver DA at the time of Columbine). He said he would and that Columbine has changed the way everyone does things. It's good to know that from that horrible tragedy came something to help keep this shooting (and other disasters) from being worse than it was.

ThePuceGuardian wow! Superb work. The Toitle turned out quite nice. Great pattern/texture there.

Lovely Nebula as well. They are starting to really promote the International Dark Sky Park at the Headlands in Michigan. It makes me smile. We can just go out the cabin door and look up....some light pollution, but minimal when compared to city lights.

I am glad you were able to find some peaceful activity. Take care!

One of my Aussie YL colleagues made a recommendation after I didn't make that net yesterday on EchoLink (kept timing out or being refused; she sez I was attempting entry the wrong way. Also suggests de-frag, which may need to be nightly if I can remember to do it. )
Will also thank ThePuceGuardian directly for the pic given The Treatment for me; I'm not sure who's staff to that cat. It's not one who lives here, those with as much fur haven't any that's white. Lagoon Nebula's glorious, so are all the plasmacats!

Had fun yesterday...
went to the walk-in clinic, tired of this damn migrating toothache. Nurse looks at me, looks at my records...no history of heart problems, thank Bast...but still, women tend to have different symptoms than guys do when their hearts go wonky.
Just to be on the safe side, they're going to treat this like a heart problem. I go into "Holyfarkohshiatdeepbreathshutupanddealwithit" mode. They bring a bitty little wheelchair...I say "Don't make me laugh...just point me where we're going, I can walk".
Take up my Awesome Walking StickTM and Satchel Of Doom (purse) and slowly follow the nurse.

Cubicle with curtains and a gurney. I can hear people about two spaces down...sounds like they're having a party while they wait for the doc. Doff upper garments and assume the ritual (ugly-as-sin) Robe Of Humiliation and Healing. Wish I'd taken a shower before I come in, but I was hurtin'...

Zip...in comes a nurse, followed by a male CNA. Onto the gurney and in no time I'm all stuck up with little leads and the beep-beep-beep machine is showing the little spikes (aka QRS wave) that my heart is doing. Looks OK to me, but what do I know? Got to wait for the doctor to pronounce on it.
I ask if I can have my Satchel Of Doom back...haul out my reading glasses and a book. Figure this is going to take a while...meanwhile the party down the row is talking about ordering pizza and wondering if they'd allow beer into the hospital. Poor guy in the cubicle on the other side is apparently feeling really rocky and the party is getting on his nerves...I can hear him muttering "Oh just shut up, will you?" Nurse comes in to ask me some questions, but can't hear what I'm saying...goes and asks the party to quiet down...at which there was much (if silent) rejoicing.

After about 45 minutes (timed by the boa-constrictor like arm-squeezing of the automatic blood-pressure cuff) the doc comes in. Nice guy, treats me like a friend he hasn't seen for a while.
I don't remember him, but a friendly face-voice-manner is very welcome. Chit-chat a bit, then down to cases...what hurts, how long, does it do this, that or the other thing? Here, since Tuesday, nope, nope, nope, yep (but I'm having rotator cuff issues, so don't let that throw you)...

THE VERDICT: It's TMJ. Well, that's a relief...still hurts like a mofo, but isn't dangerous. He gave me prednisone (in the anti-inflammatory world it is the Big Gun). Bad thing about prednisone is that takes about 24 hours to really kick in. Couldn't have anything right there for pain as I was driving...dammit.

I NEED A NEW HOST BODY, DAMN IT...This one is starting to be a real pain in the wazoo.

There, I feel better.

I think I have found all the spots where Eli peed/poo'd while we were away. It was ugly! I cannot tell if he did this because he couldn't go outside, neighbor who looks after Eli doesn't feel comfortable letting him out...or if it was because Eli freaked when everyone left...

Oh, and the mailman told me that Eli was out the Saturday after I left...told him, "Sorry, he got out on Hubby"...I wonder if the guy would be offended if I gave him a box of bandaids....:) You know, for those times when Eli "gets out"....

Yikes. o_O

Hopefully you didn't hear anything at all; bomb disposal/EOD has got to be a nerve-wracking job.

Glad to hear that you didn't end up as a [Sad] Fark headline. I've been avoiding pretty much all news sources (except for Fark) lately because I don't feel like being inundated with, as someone aptly put it earlier, tragedy porn. I like facts and information, not "OMG HOW SAD/TERRIBLE LOOK AT THIS AND BE SAD/ANGRY." Criminy, I live in Stockton and am used to all of the bad/stupid stuff here, but seeing it in nice communities like where you are is ass. :(

We had something similar here back in 1981. A guy just walked into The Oregon Museum (it was a bar) started shooting and killed 4, injured 19 people. I wasn't there that night but I knew quite a few that were. A friend's brother was shot.

Sending you lots of hugs.
