Maybe the right will stop using cell phones, the internet, and computers. Go back to sending paper letters and watching black and white television.

One can only hope.

Epic shiat-tons of info flies through my Twitter feed all day every day, and 95% of the time I use my "phone" to view it. NYTimes, Nate Silver, Neill Tyson, Peter Diamandis, Time mag, Fareed Zakaria, dozens of other idiots filling my head with new info every couple minutes all day, every day.

I think the word he's looking for is Misinformed.

2012-07-19 07:26:06 PM
We're certainly not misinformed because journalists like to include interviews of famous people and label it as "news".

What about facebook, Jeff? Is that part of the "whole thing" of which you speak.

Well, a "friend" just today posted "my heart aches."

Thank gawd, others quickly jumped in to ask her what was wrong. Now we're all informed.

So there, Mr. TV Big Shot!

Jeff Daniels is a poor man's Randy Quaid.

His argument is retarded. How people consume news and information doesn't matter (or doesn't matter as much) as the quality of the information. I submit that it's the the news providers who suck today, not the devices or services that allow us access to that information.

Jeff Daniels is a pretty cool guy, but he's just trying to raise his show's stock right now

He does have a point.

Too Much Information can mess up your ability to make good decisions
The solution is to pay attention to what matters and ignore the useless crap

/ironically any news that involves a celebrity its automatically useless crap, so I guess we should be ignoring him

Funny, with Twitter you have Joe SixPack providing the news. If there's one thing worse than the for-profit zombies at the media megacorporations, it's the dumbass on the street without a clue whatsoever.

So let me ask this, is The Newsroom worth watching?

2012-07-19 08:14:39 PM
Given his frequently tongue-in-cheek musical repertoire, I think there's a decent chance he was being ironic.

Yes, he should have done a better job explaining that response in the 2 minutes 15 seconds he was given.

2012-07-19 08:16:27 PM
Anyone notice that he slammed Jesse Eisenberg?

"When asked about those feelings, Daniels said, "I was just tired of it, just bored with it. You play 'Squid and the Whale,' which is a great movie about a kind of dysfunctional father and that's what you get offered, except it's five scenes and then you're in a movie with some 28-year-old who is making $10 million and can't find his mark."

Clearly, an actor who plays a news anchor on TV knows everything about American news.

Yes, if you don't mind the Sorkin romantic dramas that always get mixed in. Daniels is actually very good in the role. Waterson is farking hilarious

Yes. 25% of the plot/dialog is soap opera stupid, but the other 75% either is snarky, observant or moves the fairly clever narrative.

It is fantastic. Just don't judge the show by the second episode. The third and fourth are fantastic.

That's actually the point of the Aaron Sorkin show he's now on, Newsroom. He's a Jay Leno vanilla news anchor who tries to be more informative, more Murrow and less O'Relly or Brian Willaims. His character also hates blogs and the twitters so maybe he's just staying in character?

That is one of the most ignorant, least media-savvy things anyone could say since the late 1800s. You are wrong and your argument is irredeemable. Your hair is a bird and god have mercy on your soul.

He should of mentioned Fark. Think of all the people who form their opinions of a linked article based on some headline subtard thought would convince the mods to green. They're the ones who end up posting in the comments section.

I totally agree with Jeff on this one, and if you ever watched the show he stars in "The Newsroom" you'd understand his point. First let me say, he's talking about the majority of people, especially the faux news robots and tea bagging Limbaugh nipple suckers that get spoon fed their opinion daily and regenerate it as if it was fact. He's not talking about your typical farker, that's for sure, especially the majority of posters to the political tab. You fine people are the exception to the rule (for the most part), and the salt of the earth. The problem I think he is trying to express is how polarized we've become as a nation over the last 10 years, It seems most news nowadays is not concerned about facts or truth, its concerned about ratings. You have the fox news righties, the MSNBC lefties, that have already made up their mind before they hear the story. His point was, we need to take in the facts of the story's, before we make up our mind, and not look to our party affiliation to tell us what we should believe or trust.

I donno, I don't mind the McAvoy/Mac thing, it's the other "love triangle" that just...blech. It's like high school scriptwriting. Still totally loving it though, just wish they would drop that story line cause I just don't care at all about those characaters

In short, everything you said pretty much.

/Emily Mortimer is...yumm.
