Coward. Fascist Asshole.

sorry. maybe i'm not like you. but i feel safer knowing that there's nothing that can REMOTELY hurt me on an airplane. other than psycho stewardesses

But that's the joke. You're not safe in an an airport, let alone an airplane. The current "security" measures have been thwarted time and again by FBI and other government agencies. They've snuck bombs, guns, knives, and various other goodies through those invincible barricades you like. In other words, an intelligent, determined attacker can succeed. It's all just security theater to make you feel like you're safe.

Think about it, if someone wanted to kill a lot of people, why target the plane? Just drive right up to the gate with a backpack full of explosives, sprint to the security line at a really busy time (lots of people run late - you could even wear a suit to pretend you were late from a meeting). Wait until you're surrounded by the most people, then blamo. Dozens killed, many more injured, you shut down the entire airport, millions and millions of dollars lost.

You're not safe; it's the price of liberty.

For more about security theater, check out Bruce Shneier's blog and articles

here's a solution, don't piss off the terrorists?

Doctor-Speak. It lives in Canada.

FTFA: According to Deaton, the supervisor grabbed the food from the trash, screened it out of her sight, and gave it back.
"What did they do to check it? It was out of my sight," she said. "I'm not eating this."

Aaaaand that's when I stopped caring about the attention whore.

They already made fun of her. They retrieved her food from a TRASH CAN and then took it out of her sight.

I would not eat it either.

Why do some people feel the need to justify bad behavior, especially when some "official" is involved.

Because using internet catch-phrases is cool. (But don't dare say they're White Knighting the TSA.)

ReapTheChaos: I'm finding it a little hard to believe all the people on here backing up or agreeing with this statement.

The TSA has an entire department dedicated to trolling on line sites and posting glorious comments about the bravery and honor of the TSA. To help you understand their message, they also take time to criticize and ridicule the people who think they are complete morons.

And you need more than a GED to get assigned to that department. You need at least 3 community college classes.

I know....right? Sure they made fun of her condition and threw her food in the garbage. But it was most likely sitting there on top of a magazine and was probably fine. My only regret is they didn't give her a good ol' fashioned falcon punch. You know...for freedom. That twunt certainly deserved it.

You know what else they probably throw in that garbage? Examining gloves used for orfice checks.

That's awesome, and one of the more honest defenses for Bush. I would argue that quite a few things weren't precisely his fault, he just kicked the can down the road (as so many before him).

Some things were VERY much his fault though. :P

Me too. I'm usually on the side of the passenger, but in this case, the TSA gets my sympathy.

Oh! Oh! I know this one!

It's because she's an older woman, isn't it?

I like this game. I always guess correctly.

About a month ago flying TSA wanted me to go through a full body scanner. Given enough countries either encourage or forbid their citizens to go through them due to health concerns and my belief that people are biologically the same regardless of citizenship, I decided to opt out.

TSA agent said "no". Asked again. "we don't do that". Asked a 3rd time loudly and got "Fine... [softer profanity]". Yelled at an agent to come over and screen me. That agent was pretty professional. I didn't even ask him to use new gloves (that's a requirement as touching someone has a risk of bodily fluid) like others have had to. Sadly, that's notable.

I love how even though the TSA website says you have the right to opt out, yet it seems you have to insist on it if you don't want to go through the machines. Up front they will tell you it's not an option.

Her position was eliminated, then moved to India where the going rate is 48% lower than here in the States.

Pincy: To be fair though, what better place for a terrorist to hide explosives than in someone's stomach?

Already was a guy that tried to blow up a Saudi Arabian official with a pound of plastic explosive hidden up his butt.

Looks like the wife and I are playing ball this weekend.
