Looks like they must have fixed it sometime in the last 9 hours. It originally said "otherwise we doubt he would have been killed at the end of Return of the Jedi".

Ugh, I hate these Buzz Feed "articles". They're just random lists spruced up by random contributors to that site.
Most of the times the list have little sense to it and/or are full of misinformation.

FTFA: Originally a one off henchperson for The Joker on the animated series, her popularity led to her becoming a recurring character and eventually transitioning to the comics, becoming the first animated series character to transition to the comic books in DC history.

Jeez no. At least 1 other character had done that before Harley: Renee Montoya.

Technically he did die. Lucas just ret-conned it (or let it be retconned) in later books because he realized he unknowingly killed a cash cow. I'm a big fan of Boba (loved Tales of the Bounty Hunters), but theatrically, he was dead.

Colm Meaney is always very watchable. He's an actor who's really better than TV but doesn't have movie star looks. He's brilliant at playing characters who just get on with stuff but who you really don't want to fark with.

It's splitting hairs. Right now Mike and Saul are more integral to the main plotline than they've ever been in the history of their characters, but Jonathan Banks and Bob Odenkirk are still getting no better than 7th and 8th billing. And this is in the vaccum of after all the Tucos and Gus and other central villians have been killed off. When you do a per average of their characters since they've been introduced into the series, they're probably averaging about one scene per episode. That's pretty fringe. MIke might be featured one episode (as he was last week) and then completely disappear off the face of the earth (as he was at the end of last year). Central characters on shows typically don't just disappear during the most critical final episodes of the season.

Well, the squadron started out somewhat hush-hush IIRC.
So initially the squadron members used to be pretty red in the face when they were asked about it.
And after Han cracked a joke about that fact in the mess hall, they were stuck with that unfortunate name.

So much this. The movie tracks the play almost to the letter, but his character was written in as a 5-ish minute bit. His character totally did not match up with the tone of the entire move... but his quick burst did help set the progress of the plot as it goes slowly nowhere but down.

Isn't Dr. Nick dead? I could've sworn that was one of the few plot points from the movie that carried back to the show (when the dome explodes and a 2 ton shard lands right on him "Good bye, everybody!") List fails without Ben Linus.

Michael Emerson was originally contracted to appear in just three episodes of Lost, but the producers were so impressed by his acting that they kept him and made him a pivotal part of the series.

THIS!!!!!!

Emerson was seriously phenominal at making a despicable character not only...likeable...but he also had some of the best line delivery's in history.

Giving Locke's eulogy: "John Locke was a very good man. I'm sorry I murdered him."

As they are on the plane to 'return' to the island
Jack: How can you read?
Linus: My mother taught me.

I could go on...but Yeah...Emerson took what was basically throwaway character and turned him into a key player.

RexTalionis: Then the producers thought, "Hey, Jeffrey Combs is awesome, we gotta bring that guy back."

"...In fact, let's bring him back as six or seven entirely different characters, sometimes in the same episode."

NTTAWWT. Weyoun had all the best lines. Just like the early* first-season Doctor on Voyager, the Vorta character played by Iggy Pop, and a few other one-offs, his character frequently got to say the things that the wiseass jerks in the audience were saying at the screen. If the show had been made a few years later, he would have gotten to look directly at the camera like Jim from The Office.

* Early first season, when he was a grouchy asshole because that's exactly how a sane person would act under the circumstances. ("I seem to be on the Voyage of the Damned.") Never mind the lobotomized dipwad the character became for the remaining 95% of the show.

Hired just as a throwaway character for "Voyage of the Damned"; retconned as Donna's grandfather when the actor playing her dad died. Amazing in "Turn Left", "Stolen Earth"/"Journey's End" and the first half of "The End of Time".

On Hogan's Heros there was one guy who constantly showed up as a German driver or one of the guards. He constantly changed roles but never said a word. And I doubt anyone noticed on the original run because the TV's weren't that clear. Now that was a minor character.

The average age of Buzzfeed's writers must be like 20.

I don't know if that would actually count. True, the Fonz was initially a minor character, but quickly became the star of the show.

Isn't that pretty much exactly what the headline is describing? I think The Fonz should be #1.

CSB: ABC did not want Fonzie to be perceived as a thug and initially forbade him from wearing a leather jacket,
but Garry Marshall eventually wrung a concession out of them that he could wear the jacket if he was riding his
motorcycle. He would wear sweaters or sweatshirts any other time.

Marshall them proceeded to make sure that for the first season of the show the character was always shown on
on near his motorcycle, which in turn built up the character's mystique and appeal and made sure he became a
cultural icon of the 1970s.

Yeah. Disney can crank out multiple shows with 25 episode seasons and then just keep cranking them out. Sure, they are not the same quality as VB, but they seem pretty decent for kid shows. You would think that the VB crew would have made enough cash so far that they could speed things up.

Technically, he's still alive at the end, since he would have just begun the thousand year digestion cycle of the average Sarlacc.

According to the Dark Empire sourcebook (West End Games D6 Star Wars RPG) the it wasn't so much that you were slowly digested, as you'd die from thirst/hunger long before that, it's that the Sarlacc lacked the digestive enzymes required to use the stuff that fell in its gullet as food, so it actually took control of you and used your own digestive system to break down your body for it to eat.

bhcompy: downstairs: Glenford: Compete and utter failure without:
[media.screened.com image 742x555]

(Alec Baldwin from Glengarry Glenross)

So much this. The movie tracks the play almost to the letter, but his character was written in as a 5-ish minute bit. His character totally did not match up with the tone of the entire move... but his quick burst did help set the progress of the plot as it goes slowly nowhere but down.

/my favorite movie of all time

Oddly enough I received an email today from corporate sales asking for Glengarry leads, because those "gold" leads are the leads they give to closers.. with accompanying youtube links to spice up the email

That's classic. I always add subtle GG/GR references in emails when we're talking sales. Which can be challenging when every reference generally has the word "fark" in it at least once.

THE ALCHEMIST
Okay, this is really gross. Once I was out of toilet paper so I used cotton balls. So, you know, I'm wiping, and I think my finger kinda poked through the cotton, so I, and- and, do not ask me why, I smell my finger to check-

JEFFERSON

Gross!! I see where this is going.

DR. ORPHEUS

Quickly, Al, he's so close!

THE ALCHEMIST

Okay! I bring it up to smell it, right, but somehow the cotton got stuck to my fingers, so when I smell my fingers the cotton's getting stuck to my razor stubble! So then I have this shiat cotton all over my face!

rocky_howard: Ugh, I hate these Buzz Feed "articles".

Jeez no. At least 1 other character had done that before Harley: Renee Montoya.

fark Buzz Feed!

On a technicality, the Judges say false.

Renee Montoya, while designed for the Animated Series, actually appeared in comics first, about five months BEFORE showing up in the Animated Series.

These two ended up getting their own movie.

Which then made us all fall OUT of love with them.

Funny side note to that. Jason Mewes (Jay) quit smoking pot before Clerks II. I think that is what made the difference. Jason had to act for once. Now the tables have turned and Kevin Smith has taken up smoking pot. If they brought the characters back big the names will have to flip, Bob and Silent Jay.
