For some reason, all of my problems just got smaller.
(Like her face.)
Wow.

What wonderful news. :-)

The before pictures make my face and neck ache. That poor woman. So glad she got the free surgery, and that it was a success.

This is the only thing I keep picturing after seeing her pre-op:

And I feel terrible about it.

Wow, I hate myself for laughing at that. I was going to say "why the long face"...well, I guess I did, but it pales in comparison.

All jokes aside, good for her.

She will probably look even better once the swelling from the surgery goes down a bit. Can't wait to see how she's doing in a few months.

I just have to say, her husband is some kind of awesome for staying devoted to her through all this. There was no guarantee she'd get help, but he stayed with her all this time anyway. Warms the cockles of the heart, eh?

Wow.

No kidding. I was bummed about a zit on my forehead earlier. Kind of pales in comparison with tumors larger than grapefruit.

2012-07-19 12:48:17 AM
If they sewed all those tumors together they could have made a new woman out of them.

2012-07-19 12:48:55 AM
Wow. Just....wow.

She's going to look in the mirror finally, and never stop crying for joy.

This was originally going to cost her almost $100,000? I thought only America was a terrible enough country to make you pay for heath care. Everyone else in the world gets it for free.

Actually as per the FA, she is on her second husband. Her first husband died while she was in the middle of her facial deformity illness, which added to the tragedies in her life. Three years ago she married Guo Yingping, who in addition to having what I believe to be a goofy sounding name, was strangely described as a 40 year old "orphan." I'm not sure if it was lost in translation, and the writer meant to say widower instead of orphan. Or in this culture, losing both parents is a significant and sad event and remains part of your identity throughout your life.

Wow, great results. Sometimes facial surgery doesn't seem to much improve things, but in this case, she's actually back to having a reasonably normal face.

In cultures with a caste system (no idea if this applies to northwest china) not knowing who your parents are effectively puts you with the lowest. Even in America, having no parents effectively makes you the poorest class of citizen.

Can I recommend a photoshop contest????

Now that she has a 'new' face - albeit, really just her regular 'normal' face back - how about we photoshop some nice fashions to go with it???

The hospital seems to have donated the time/resources so there isn't much we can do to help, but as she is a lady, I am sure she would like to see herself dressed in a variety of nice styles (difficulty = not too may pre-existing full length stand-up pictures to work with) and a wide variety of colours and clothes.

Maybe bonus points could be dealt out for nice/classy hairstyles. I'll leave the details up to all of you experts out there to come up with something nice and appropriate.

Ugh, grapefruits are disgusting. The only reason god made them was so we'd have something to compare tumors too, really...Fark grapefruits. Disgusting
