I hope this makes national. This retard needs to be called out. That's what the sane people need to do, call out these short bus riding retards when they make dumb statements like this.

dickfreckle: Class act? It's farked up that we now confuse "doing what normal people do" with "class act." It's like getting an award because you remembered not to leave your kids locked in a hot car.

While I'm pleased with what McCain said and agree that he's largely a decent guy, it does make him particularly awesome. It makes him not insane.

it's hard to be impressed with this guy when next week the psychotic roller coaster that is John McCain will bottom out again and he'll say something about Obama being "unamerican."

What McCain did is a good example of bipartisanship - and what you did is a good example of 'seeing that no good deed goes unpunished'. Well played!

Hot link from Ellison's letter.

I absolutely love that he quoted the "deep penetration" part. What he did there, I see it.

The thing about McCain is - every once in a while, the man he was in 2000 (before he was smeared by the W campaign) breaks through and you get to see the real McCain. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him, but ever since he was smeared by his own party in 2000, I feel like he has been too willing to fall in lockstep with GOP political strategy -- at the expense of doing what he knows is right.

Exhibit A - he voted against the Disclose Act. He was one the champion of campaign finance reform, but now he's just bowing to the powers that be in his party.

McCain praised the work and patriotism of Huma Abedin, a State Department employee who has been a constant presence at Clinton's side. Without mentioning congresswoman Bachmann by name, McCain described the attacks on Abedin, a Muslim, as an example of ignorance and fear that defames the spirit of the nation.

Sigh. So close.

"Obama's an Arab."

"No, he's not. He's a decent family man, a citizen."

Because, you know, an Arab can't be these things.

foo monkey: Bachman must be a closet Muslim, just like how people who hate gays are closet gays.

She doesn't know enough about Muslims to be a closet Muslim.

I'm surprised the guy who couldn't remember how many houses his wife's family owns, most of which he hasn't been to, is even allowed an opinion.

This show of character is exactly why I briefly considered voting for him in 2004.

But then Palin.
I'm sure no further explanation is necessary.

While true, you have to take baby steps with these troglodytes.... just getting them to get the tin foil off their head about Obama being arab is step one.

Got a lot of play on msnbc last night and this morning.

And I have to give him credit for doing this in an official capacity rather than just a comment to a journalist or at a press conference.

AND let's not forget this idiot was once the FRONTRUNNER FOR THE GOP NOM.

It's funny how a VP pick can turn the tides. Picking a female VP was a good and strategic move - he just picked the wrong one......probably why we won't see Romney's pick until the GOP convention next month.

Earguy: From what I can tell, McCain feels burned by The Republican Party. He succumbed to the pressure from The Party against his better judgement in his campaign, and now he's in a position where The Party can't do anything to him. He really speaks his conscience now and doesn't care about partisanship.

Farking RINO!

Does comparing him to Gingrich and McCain make him less of a douche or does it make you a douche for offering up Republican adulterers as a defense? Wrong should be wrong no matter what side of the fence you are on.

FTFA: Huma represents what is best about America: the daughter of immigrants, who has risen to the highest levels of our government on the basis of her substantial personal merit and her abiding commitment to the American ideals that she embodies so fully.

Plus, she forged the Dragonlances and banished the dark queen Takhisis. So there's that.

John McCain's wife is the daughter of Jim Hensley. Hensley was connected to the Mafia through Kemper Marley, the man who ordered Don Bolles murdered.

John McCain may have streaks of decency but he knew what kind of murderers and thieves he was marrying into.

Arizona's other star senator, Barry Goldwater, was also heavily connected to Kemper Marley and organized crime. The day Bolles was blown to bits, Barry Goldwater called Neal Roberts, the lawyer who hired the killers, several times.

While it's been unfrortunate to see McCain shifting with the breeze over major policy issues in the past few years, (DADT, Health Care, etc.), I think it's always been obvious that his moral compas is pretty well-adjusted. One may not always agree with him, but I ceretainly think he deserves his reputation as someone who isn't afraid to call out folks who cros the line in to un-American bigotry and fear-mongering. (Shutting up the "he's an Arab" town hall nutjob is another good example.)

to take to the Senate floor and call out a fellow Republican congressperson for her terrible behavior in such strong terms to defend an innocent person?
