Democracy in action.

2012-07-18 06:13:58 PM
Some call this plutocracy. Some call it a corrupted aristocracy. I call it unstable. Just as America learned under the Articles of Confederation, where one state had the power to block the resolve of the rest, a nation in which so few have the power to block change is not a nation that can thrive.

The balance of power has shifted to the aristocratic south. I keep hoping it'll shift north again. We could use some sanity.

Yes, but all those 196 people are much much better than you and I. They have gazillions of dollars and thus much more valid speech than any of us plebes. Whether liberal or conservative, they are all rich and that means criticizing them is bad and you should feel bad, Submitter.

And .000063 percent -- 196 Americans -- have given more than 80 percent of the super-PAC money spent in the presidential elections so far.

But OBAMACARE (booga booga!) is the SCOTUS decision that REALLY sucks, eh "conservatives?"

They're just more free than you are. It's the way America works. Everyone is equal, but some people are more free than others, just the way the Founders intended it.

Turn off f*cking American Idol, go outside, and work your ass off to make your own f*cking money, and I won't say a goddamn word about how you spend it. Because once you make all that money, you'll want to keep it, so you're not going to be supporting some liberal pantywaist f*ck that wants to take it all away and give it to the other lazy f*cks that are still watching American f*cking Idol. You're going to be buying candidates that promise to cut your taxes, just like the rest of us."

We were playing in f*cking Dubai, for crying out loud. Anyway, George, that's the dilemma. You're right, it's kind of pointless to produce anything when no one is getting paid enough to purchase your product. But I honestly believe we can go lower. I mean, people are lining up around the block for the privilege of shelling out $800 for whatever Apple shoves out the door with an 'i' in front of, and we're at more than 8% unemployment! You bring in some low paying jobs, and the people will lower their lifestyle expenses enough to still be able to afford all the consumer goods."

All that money going to local broadcast stations, sign makers,. T-Shirt makers, telemarketers, survey takers, out-of-work statistical analyzers, bumber-sticker makers, hotels, conference centers, chair rental places, video producers, Film camera manufcturers, mic technicians, etc. etc...

Hooray For economic stimulus!

SuperPAC donations aren't anonymous, but donations to 501(c)(4) "social welfare groups" like Crossroads GPS are anonymous.

501(c)(4)s are supposed to have a primary purpose that isn't advocating the defeat or election of candidates for office, but they skirt the law. Note that Crossroads GPS ads will say something like "Tell Barack Obama, no more wasteful spending" rather than "This November, vote against Barack Obama."
