There was a young sailor named Bates
Who danced the fandango in skates
He slipped on his cutlass
Which rendered him nutless
And practically useless on dates.

From one of the other threads:

There once was a core that went critical
And I hope all the atoms aren't splitical...
An excess of heat
While stroking his meat
Just watch as the thread goes political

Nooooo! It's brutally hot and humid right now in the Delaware Valley, we can't have the grid collapse right now, we need the A/C to survive!

Umm... he said nuclear plant went astray? Not the reactor cooling loop? The transformer was part of the plant? Yes?
FTFA: In a statement, Exelon said the electrical problem occurred on the non-nuclear side of the plant.

Still part of the nuclear plant.

Goddamn Decepticons.

Now that is a headline.

Take note, students.

As a side, when are we going to get molten salt reactors going so we can use thorium?

Ummm.... he labeled it Scary.

What other reasons beyond the immediate danger around the transformer blowing out would make the Subby think a Scary tag was warranted? The only reason this was a story was because it happened at a nuclear powerplant. Why don't they report on transformer failures at hydro plants? Or fossil fuel plants? Or wind farms? Why wasn't anything about the transformer put in the headline? Why was it generalized that the whole nuclear plant "went astray" when no part of the actual reactor system that everyone's so scared shiatless about was damaged?

I already laid out my conclusion in my original post.

"What other reason beyond the immediate danger...."

Uh, because hydro and fossil fuel plant don't poison the land for decades with invisible, deadly radiation when they break down?

Duh.

I suspected as much. For some reason, the only people who usually submit limerick headlines are the ones who wouldn't know an anapestic foot if you kicked them in the head with it.

"Why verse, you request" is a stretch;
Though noting it makes me a wretch.
Since the rest of it sold
(and your stuff is just gold),
please forgive my compulsion to kvetch.
