Thank you Mr. Nolan! I prefer movies that don't give me splitting migraines.

Just because 3D *can* be used doesn't mean it *must* be used.

/Personally, I'm waiting for the 3D remastering of My Dinner with Andre.

I liked it for the Avengers. And The Amazing Spiderman. Seemed a bit unnecessary for Prometheus -- outside of the space shots, which were minimal.

I just hope Batman's still on IMAX.

AGREED. It only even has the potential to work if it's shot in 3-D, but most movies are just post processed. No thanks, your software's version of 3D isn't worth the ticket surcharge, headache, blurriness, or dimmer image.

See, like a National Geographic film would be terrific in 3D. I'd watch the hell out of those.

Panoramas, city scapes, nature shots -- I need the big screen.

Too bad most films I get on our IMAX are in 3D.

It's like me and iced tea. They never have the combo I like (unsweetened with lemon). I rarely see IMAX films in 2D.

Don't worry. After Nolan finishes his Batman franchise, we just have to wait another week or so before Warner announces a plan for re-re-re-reboot. It'll star Channing Tatum as a hip-talkin' 20-something Bruce Wayne, known as "B-Way" to his friends. After some uncool "totes rude" people move into his neighborhood and start robbin' and killin' and stuff, he'll down the cowl and fight them off with his catchphrase, "Batter up!"

Also stay for the soundtrack, featuring Nicki Minaj, Theory of a Deadman, and whoever else the record label decided to shoehorn into the film.

And it'll all be in DBox 3D, directed by Roger Kumble.

It's not dying, it's just going back in it's coffin for another twenty years, then everyone will forget what a sh*tty thing it is and it will happen again.

Assuming TDKR grosses anywhere near what is expected Nolan will have no problem making at least one more movie under his terms

Written by Seth Rogan or Jonah Hill or both.

I was pretty blah about Nolan before this but my respect for him just shot up a couple ranks. Good man.

If a movie wasn't made for 3D then don't put 3D into it. Especially post-production (looking at you, Clash of the Titans).

2012-07-18 05:03:11 PM
Call me crazy, but I am sick and tired of the Batman crap already.

I liked it in Avatar and Prometheus, didn't care for it in the couple others I've seen. Looking forward to seeing Hobbit in 3D.

What does that matter. I've yet to see a movie that was released ONLY in 3D.

I've had no complaints about Marvel movies in 3D, and no issues with fitting the 3D glasses over my own glasses. But it's never felt nessesary. Even in Avatar, I didn't notice it much.

2012-07-18 05:09:47 PM
I read an earlier interview where he talked about how 3-D makes the picture darker because most movie theaters don't have the lenses necessary to properly project it. For a movie as visually dark as Batman already is, that would make for a pretty shiatty theater experience.

/also wear glasses and hate wearing 2 pairs to see a 3-D movie.
//I'll stick to 2-D in 99% of circumstances

Yeah, and if you have a director hitting home runs, you don't change his swing.

I'm not saying he's bigger than Spielberg...but right now, after his string of successful movies...he can pretty much do what he wants.

Insomnia.

When Al Pacino points his gun, he points it RIGHT AT THE AUDIENCE!

*makes 3D-zooming gestures*

TheBeastOfYuccaFlats: What does that matter. I've yet to see a movie that was released ONLY in 3D.

Good point.

See, I caught The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man in 2D.

I felt that it was certainly not a detriment that I avoided the 3D route.

Our local theater often plays big-but-not-huge movies in 3D only for a week or two and then drops them completely.

Exactly that.

All of Nolan's movies were monsters at the box office, and without a 3D angle, either.

When one shoots for 3D effects, that changes the visual style of how the director lines up shots and whatnot.

Nolan's visual style has proven to be more than effective. Why screw that up by forcing his hand?

The 17D was ok, but they needed to go deeper.
