(970 WFLA)   After Rush Limbaugh accuses liberals of creating Bane as an attack against Romney, one of Bane's co-creators comes out to clarify that no, they're exactly the opposite of liberals (interview at 3:15)   (schnittshow.com) divider line 146

Damn those Liberals and their Time Machines.

Of course, since regulation is teh Debbil, we cannot simply legislate our way out of this mess. The key is to get Time Machines in the hands of Job Creators to retroactively create MOAR jobs in third world nations to create demand for products that will be manufactured overseas, and the money for selling into these markets to be placed in offshore banks.

It's so simple that a Red Haired Monkey could do it...

I always thought Bane as a leftist anarchist. He empowered the dispossessed, wanted to break the wealthy, and take down the police state. Bane would have targeted Bain for destruction.

2012-07-18 11:59:10 AM
Also, within the context of the movie, Dixon said the comparison between Bane and Romney does not make sense. "My understanding is that Bane is more of an Occupy Wall Street type. Romney is more like Bruce Wayne."

See, this is the craziest part of Limbaugh's comments. The Dark Knight was essentially an allegory for the War on Terror with Batman playing the role of George W. Bush. He was the president we deserve, not the one we need right now. It's no coincidence that The Dark Knight Rises takes place eight years later.

that's pretty much what dixon said. and he said romney is more like batman - a delusional, secluded billionaire.

2012-07-18 12:07:38 PM
As for the mainstream media's attempt to usurp the character, Dixon said, "It's ridiculous. Obviously Bane was not created as an attack on Mitt Romney. We never heard of Romney twenty years ago."

Doesn't matter dude - Limbaugh said you are a liberal, so - yer a librul. I know, I know...you've done nothing wrong, it's not your fault, and you didn't plan on this happening. doesn't matter though. the master of right wing media spin has thrown you under the bus. you've been made an un-person.

that's just how the GOP works these days.

It's stupid anyway, because Romney is *obviously* a dead ringer for Two-Face. This whole Bane/Bain thing will just result someone making a meme of that which will be even more fun.

As long as Chuck Dixon doesn't go all wingnut in his writing, he's a decent comic book writer.

Nah, Harvey was charismatic and fair. He's more like the Killer Moth. I'll list my reasons below:

1) He plays the role of Batman on the villains side
2) He fought to strengthen corruption
3) He's basically a crazier Bruce Wayne
4) He has no strong convictions
5) He's lamer than hell

2012-07-18 12:50:53 PM
Hmm. Reading up on Bane, it seems he teams up with Batman on numerous occasions. And, of course, also fights him sometimes.

So...yeah. Bane is crazy. Like the GOP. But unlike the GOP, he's willing to work with his nemesis.

Sure...the character was created 20 years ago, but the decision by Christopher Nolan and the studio to use Bane in the film was made much more recently.

I would not be surprised at all if Limbaugh and his dittoidiots use that as the response to the "Bane was created 20 years ago" message.

But that decision still would have been made two or three years ago, long before Mittens and Bain was a talking point.

Have people ever thought for a second that maybe movies are for entertainment and not for projecting your beliefs?

/wait, I think I answered my own question.

I am listening to Limbaugh right now. You nailed it.

Still makes no sense, but that doesn't matter to dittoheads.

You really thought about that pretty easy joke based on the fact that Romney makes his decisions at random far, far too much.

still has a show.

Republicans just don't believe in linear time, do they?

2012-07-18 01:36:17 PM
That said, it was rather stupid of a Democratic strategist going on TV and saying that the democrats would be happy if Joe Schmo made the connection between Bane and Bain Capital.

Still, it makes a sort of allegorical sense, you know.

Dennis Kucinich is Bane.

Rush is getting ridiculous on this one. For crying out loud, The Dark Knight was a defense of the Bush's War on Terror.

And I guess the decision to use Bane in 1997's "Batman and Robin" was made because. . . Damn, I'm having trouble squeezing that into the conspiracy. I give up.

Willie Geist would like to submit a retraction to the airwaves. It will read: "MSNBC apologizes for any harm caused by Rush Limbaugh's lies, projection, and utter bloviating crap. We of course did not sponsor, produce or distribute and of this sophomoric cable access tripe, but Mr. Limbaugh is a threat to punditry everywhere. MSNBC may not be squeaky clean in the punditry game, but we're pretty sure we'd get the political ideology right of someone accused of clandestinely supporting the other side."

I dunno. His family did ruin the Cobblepots and Wayne did a good job gutting The Black Mask's company after he bought it. Then again, Black Mask's company was producing makeup so toxic it burned women's faces off.

If TDKR was planned to bring down Romney, that means they were planning on him winning the primary. However, since they obviously started filming well before the primaries were over, TDKR was probably just one prong of a complex attack on all potential primary winners.

My question is, which other movies are out there that would have been good attacks on other potential winners?

Is the Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man a thinly veiled jab at Newt?

Was Snow White and the Huntsman made to boost liberal favorite Jon Hunstman?

Is Total Recall an attempt to re-energize the voters after the failed recall in Wisconsin?

Leftist scientists invented linear time so that the UN could take our guns away.

God created the world in 7 days, but time to HIm is not the same as time to us. You can't explain that.

Jesus said he would come back soon, but its been 2000 years, and still no Jesus. You can't explain that with your fancy "linear time" theories.

It's like listening to Homer Simpson attempt to do a right-wing political talk show.
