Was the season finale as good as previous seasons? I would say no, but that doesn't mean it was bad. I admit I waited with baited breath thinking that Jax was going to off the old man, but it would have destroyed a major dynamic of the series. As bad as Tony getting married to Angela? No, but Jax eliminating his murdering step-dad and taking the throne wouldn't leave a lot of room to go to for future episodes/seasons. I wouldn't expect something like that to happen till season 6, or even the series finale. If you think about this finale, it started out with Jax adamant that he was going to abandon the life, and ended with him taking over power. And they're going to have a lot to deal with this coming season, they're in a weakended state and under big brother's thumb. It'll be interesting in how they navigate these positions.

And Devil's Ride is pathetic, I'm surprised it hasn't been cancelled yet.

NO.

Laffing Devils, or, as they are affectionately known around these parts, the Lactating Devils.
They're on Devil's Ride, a Discovery Channel joint.

Never saw the festering pile that is "The Devils Ride" I take it, lucky you.

Is "The Devils Ride" even real? It has that staged 'reality' feel to it even though they claim it's real.

No way in hell is it real. Like the time when the ex member came into the clubhouse and smashed some shiat, yet not a single punch was thrown. Give me a break.

I have never heard of the biker gangs on this show and I am a born and raised San Diegan that knows quite a few bikers from different clubs and they never heard of them before this show either. Now I see that "Gypsy " clown everywhere. I watched it a few times because I like trying to figure out where they are when they are filming.

I'm pretty sure the gangs are all fake.

Really? Something on television fake?

How could you tell?

Hint #1: it's on television.

Why Jax has to kill Opie:

- The CIA needs SAMCRO to pull off their transaction between the Irish and the "Cartel." The Irish won't do the deal w/o Clay, flat out. Opie is most likely going to try and finish the job some way or another.
- If the deal falls apart b/c the Irish walk away, the CIA puts the hurt on SAMCRO.
- Also, Opie is a wild card. Opie feels like Jax betrayed him personally, and betrayed the club by going along w/ the dope/Cartel stuff in the first place. Opie doesn't trust Jax, and, well, Jax has already shot Opie once already.
- Opie will probably start making noise w/ other members, and the Clay cover up will start to get frayed. Jax has to put Opie down to prevent everything from unraveling, even though it was all Clay's fault in the first place.
- And of course, killing Opie to cover up a cover up just leads to more drama and insanity to deal w/ for a couple of more seasons.

Profedius: Isn't this show on TNT? nudity?

FX I think, and I think the only acceptable nudity on basic cable is still man ass. Didn't NYPD Blue also have lady ass back in the '90s? And that was prime time on a major network. Damn you, Janet Jackson.

FX had Nip/Tuck, which had the top crown of bare female ass during a doggy style sex scene. I've seen all kinds of crazy depravity on the internet or Skinemax, but I was actually surprised by how much they showed on basic cable.

I used to work the door at a biker bar and we had a lot of different clubs come through the door. Most of them are decent guys, a lot of military veterans. Some were pretty scary as well. Then there is the younger douchebaggy ones that are trying to earn their place, and a lot of the time that palce was out in the parking lot watching the bikes. I had more problems with their old ladies starting shiat than I did them. The guys tended to police themselves.
Met this guy once he was/is a Diablo and farking insane!

scottydoesntknow: Prediction: The explosions will kill non-important characters and the nudity will be man-ass.

Spoilers:
The show is scared to kill off important characters because they don't know what to do with the show. The deux-ex-machina at the end of the last season was sad, and not killing off Ron Perlman was just a bad move. I love Ron, but it was time for his character to die.

yeah, someone has to die. I love Katey Sagal, Ron Perlman and whoever plays Jax, but one of them has to go. There's too much tension between Jax and Ron Perlman. It can't go on anymore. I'm actually not really looking forward to next season.

By nudity they undoubtedly mean man-ass.

If the girl who plays Ima gets nekkid then I'll be interested.

FCC indecency rules don't apply to cable. Content standards are what the industry thinks is appropriate for non-premium, partially advertiser-supported programming.

Yes, thank you. My point was that even with less restrictions, basic cable is more prudish about nudity than a major network was almost 20 years ago, and that's sad.

That's how most Americans form their world view and receive their behavioral cues, which is why you see scrawny white farm boys in Scranton dressing and acting like they're from Compton.

mechgreg: redmid17: mechgreg: The other good reason to watch the show is so you can keep track of the creators online freak-outs when his show (which for some reason he thinks is the second coming of The Wire) doesn't get nominated for any awards.

I think the show has gotten the shaft as far as awards go. It's pretty farking good.

I don't know I would say it is good, but it is not like it is Mad Men good, or Breaking Bad good or even Boardwalk Empire good. It is maybe as good as The Good Wife, but the way he rants about it you would think it is like the greatest show ever to be shown on tv.

It's probably not a contender for Best Series, but I think the cast has been overlooked. Sagal has gotten some love, but Ron Perlman should at least have an Emmy nomination by now.

I like the show a little less with each passing season, and I was SOOO disappointed that Jax not only didn't kill Clay, he stopped Opie from doing it. Putting Clay in Piney's place - weak and stuck at the foot of the table wearing an oxygen mask - is just barely tolerable.

The writers need to find a new way to move the plot along, and stop relying on unnecessary secrets and deals between characters to keep them secret.

Heh - they are a lot alike: both are blue/black, half-Jewish, and went to a better university than I did.

Our version of the "free pass" game is like this: if she wants a pass at someone on a show, I get to pick someone from that show as well. Besides Charlie Hunnam she has the hots for Anson Mount from Hell on Wheels, so I picked Dominique McElligott. Her only comment was "Your ex is a British blonde, I thought you would have learned the first time."

I just can't believe how bad of a shot they all are. They often blast away at people from close range, sometimes at the enemies exposed flank, and rarely hit anything. Opie's dad took a few pot shots at Clay from a few feet away and managed to miss everything in front of him.

Cops who've won shooting competitions have unloaded full magazines without hitting their target at 10 feet away (with the target moving and shooting back, and them presenting a moving target for the suspect).

I'm pretty good when I go to the range. I have no farking clue how well I'd perform if I was ever in a firefight, and neither does anybody else who hasn't been in one (paintball doesn't count).
